Coyote squirrel hunt series šŸæļøšŸ™ŒšŸ¼

While I was exiting the high park yesterday to catch a bus, I saw a strange animal. Initially I suspected its a dog but with no one else around why would be unleashed in a public park. Upon then, I zoomed my phone camera and found out is a type of jackal. I followed the Coyote for a while observing its activity, it looked up the tree where the black squirrel was and while I took my camera slowly to capture this whole scene, the squirrel made a mistake to run down and the coyote quickly went to hunt the squirrel. I was clueless how to react since I was only few yards away and the Coyote staring at me for a while with its kill. I spent 40 mins with the Coyote tearing the squirrel and finishing it. It went for another squirrel which it saved for the dinner probably that is the last pic in the series. It followed me with the kill for few mins and I held my breath not to run away and luckily it went into the bushes. What a breathtaking experience it was for an hour with just me, Coyote and the squirrel.

Nature’s Patterns 🌳🦌

I have always wondered there is a poignant connection between the natural world and the wildlife it harbors. There is a subtle yet profound similarities between these two elements of nature, highlighting the interconnectedness and harmony present in the wilderness. Let me explain what I see in these images I have shot,

Picture 1 and 2 - The trees in these forest are slanted down instead of being strait here which resembles the flexibility of birds like egret, herons, cormorants to hunt fish. You can find egret and heron in the picture hunting fishes. Captured this during blue hour after sunset, last rays of sun fell on birds.

Picture 3&4 shows the trees in background which are V shape resembling the bird’s wings. Group of Vs from tree branches in 4th picture resembles group of pelicans.

Picture 5&6 shows the deer antlers look like tree branches in the background. Composed the picture to include antlers and tree branches, logs.

Picture 6&7 shows the tree log pointed vertically upwards in the water resembling rhinoceros one horn.

I see how nature and wildlife is interconnected so deeply, that’s one thing I adore about wildlife photography.

An ordinary early morning in the forest feels like a dream come true to me. Experiencing such surreal moments is truly unforgettable. To reach this serene spot, we boarded a boat at 6 am and ventured into the forest. All around us, the air was filled with the melodies of birds awakening, the gentle lapping of water, the hum of insects, and the soft glow of the sun kissing the surface of the boat.

Upon reaching a point where we could see the captivating bokeh dancing in the foreground on the lake, we paused at this location and spotted an egret in the distance. Seizing the moment, I framed the entire scene, capturing its natural beauty. We also caught a glimpse of a deer entering my frame, although it vanished before I could click the shutter button. Additionally, we spotted a kingfisher, herons, storks, and cormorants.

We observed two cormorants preparing to land on a branch. After patiently waiting, the second picture captures those cormorants perched on the tree branches, facing opposite directions, just as I had anticipated.

These enchanting moments only lasted for about 20 minutes, as the sun’s rays illuminated the lake, creating mesmerizing bokeh. Once the sun fully emerged, the brightness was almost overwhelming. However, the early wake-up call and the long wait were absolutely worthwhile to witness these magical scenes unfold before our eyes.

Golden Majesty: Egret’s Ethereal Presence

In the enchanting light of the golden hour, an egret stands in serene majesty, its graceful form outlined by a delicate rim of radiance. Bathed in the soft, warm glow of the setting sun, the egret’s rim light exudes a timeless elegance against the backdrop of nature’s bokeh formed by bees around.

Lately, in wildlife I have learnt it’s not always we need a tiger, lion, elephants, huge or colorful birds, rare birds to show the uniqueness in photography. But a simple egret which is found common can be so beautiful when you are in right place at right time. This golden hour with egret during the sunset is a moment to remember 🧔

Golden Gaze: Grey Heron in the Spotlight

Is the Grey Heron in the pics angry? Probably! not sure. While everyone else followed the light, taught us to see against the light which will give beautiful bokeh’s especially during the sunsets. No wonder, when I saw the bokeh’s in golden hour I was so excited. To our surprise after a wait, patience served us some glowing portraits of Grey Herons, Black herons and the great egrets.

Now, the behavior of grey heron in the picture is it was hunting for fishes quite a while and weren’t lucky. A few fishes it caught was disturbed by egrets, painted storks and black herons. We were quite far positioned ourselves very low lying in the ground for eye level shots, I was able to get some images with 600mm focal of Grey heron with bokeh, golden hour, 9000 kelvin, glow in the beaks and its expressions. Most of them were shot with rule of 3rds but had to crop a bit to match instagram frame. Thanks to Kapil for great lessons on creative compositions.

Predators Interaction after the hunt šŸ…

Swipe left ~ Last pic shows the winner.

After a sambar deer hunt made in the Malik lake by Tigrer t120, slowly approached tigress riddhi from few yards away since the hunt was made in her territory. The pictures shows how Riddhi gets closer inch by inch, tiger T120 hides the kill inside water and stays there guarding the kill. Tiger T120 is an aggressive animal, I was expecting a fight but may be it thought its Riddhi territory and keeping low or it’s not ready for a fight and risk the kill. After waiting for 30 mins, when the tigress riddhi gave up, then T120 took the kill out of water into the bushes. Tigers are so intelligent and we were lucky to witness the whole scenes.

These pictures are composed using rule of thirds, layering and center composition showing the habitat, story telling, one time shot of these rare moments.

The Brutal Beauty of Nature: Tiger’s Kill in Motion

WARNING: Sensitive content āš ļø

In a riveting display of nature’s raw power, these set of images shows the intense moment as a tiger seizes its prey, unleashing a flurry of blood splatters and the deers eyes popping out. Amidst the chaos, the tiger’s predatory prowess is on full display, its lethal jaws locked in a deadly embrace with the hapless sambar deer. Each detail in the scene tells a story of survival, with the tiger’s calculated movements against the deer’s desperate struggle. The composition, tinged with shades of red, evokes a sense of primal ferocity, while the splashes of blood serve as a stark reminder of the harsh realities of the animal kingdom. It’s a captivating glimpse into the untamed wilderness, where life and death converge in a timeless battle for supremacy. Everything happened in seconds before we change right lens and settings. Wildlife photography is a real challenge.
