Due to the recent storms throughout Ohio, we wanted to explain some of the potential hazards on the water that our guests may not always be aware of.

Even when the weather looks nice, the river can still be unsafe because storm runoff continues moving downstream.

Some of the biggest concerns are:
- Higher winds & water levels, which make docking and maneuvering more difficult

- Faster currents, which give captains less time to react if something goes wrong. anything over 2.0 mph is considered to be fast

- Floating and submerged debris, which can damage the boat and it's propeller or affect speed & steering.

Mix all of those together and you have for an extremely unsafe scenario if something were to go wrong

A sunny forecast doesn’t automatically mean safe boating conditions. Not every operator will make the same call, but we’re comfortable being the cautious ones when it comes to the safety of our guests and crew.

Our captains took an oath to put safety first, and part of their licensing responsibility is monitoring river conditions and determining when it is safe to operate.

Safety comes before keeping a tour on the schedule.
