I’ve been avoiding posting this as much as possible, but it’s officially time for an update on Flora And Fawn Photography:
In Summer of 2024, I was asked to move out of the adorable studio space connected to Square Mile Coffee Co. due to their plans to expand. While it was a big bummer for me, I’m so happy for them! I was fortunate enough to move in two doors down into the old Mt. Healthy Main Theatre space, but since then it’s been rough.
First, the toilet water came out of the back when flushed and went into the floor. Then came the water leaking in from the ceiling in several spots, and finally the shattered storefront glass. Newborn safety is my #1 priority, so I haven’t been able to use the space since the glass has been broken. After asking for an update on the replacement from US Property Management LLC for MONTHS without an answer, they finally shared in November 2025 that the studio front would be fixed in the Spring when the city of Mt. Healthy had the funds. Winter comes and goes without word, until I get a call from the city manager on March 9th telling me that a pipe burst. Apparently it had happened weeks prior so everything inside was covered in black mold…10 years of hard work gone.
And today, the Mt. Healthy city manager told me that none of the items in my studio are going to be covered under their insurance. I’ve lost the gorgeous handmade newborn, outfits, headbands and accessories. All of the wraps, layers, and rugs, I’ve collected. The expensive lighting equipment, backdrops, and furniture that made the studio cozy. I crafted many items myself, thrifted and antiqued-stored many props, meaning most things were irreplaceable.
My dream has always been to run the business full-time, while working traditional soul-draining jobs to fund those dreams. This set back really stings. But I am determined to turn this challenge into something positive and to come back stronger. Stayed tuned for some fun things as I try to rebuild from scratch ❤️
