Sometimes the outfit is allowed to be the fun part.

Senior pictures don’t always have to start with the safest thing in your closet.

Sometimes you put on the hat.
Wear the boots.
Mix the stripes with the polka dots.
Add the weird little accessory.
Choose the thing that has some personality.

Because an outfit with a point of view gives us something to play with.

It changes the posing.
It changes the energy.
It changes the way the whole photograph feels.

And no, this doesn’t mean every senior needs to dress like this or that you can’t also just wear a jeans and a tee for some of your session too! That’s wha wardrobe changes and location changes are for!

But it does mean your session should have room for the clothes that make you think…and just feel like you!

So…what is a senior session supposed to look like?

That’s kind of the point.

One girl might want colorful and fun. Another might lean classic. Someone else wants cool and a little edgy. Soft and romantic. Fashion-forward. Casual. Dramatic.

There isn’t one right way to do senior pictures and I definitely don’t want every senior I photograph to look the same.

What I want is to figure out what your version looks like.

That’s why we plan. We talk about your clothes, what you actually wear, what you’re drawn to, what you definitely don’t want, and where all of it makes sense to photograph.

And then we leave a little room to play.

Because the best senior session isn’t the one that looks like everybody else’s.

It’s the one that feels unmistakably like you.

You can be both.

Cool. Happy. Serious. Soft. Confident. A little edgy. Completely yourself.

One of my favorite things about a senior session is getting past the idea that we’re trying to create one “look” for you.

We’re not.

We’re creating a collection that actually has range, because so do you.

I love the big smile in this set just as much as I love the quieter, stronger portraits. Same girl. Same outfit. Completely different energy.

And THAT is what I want your senior pictures to feel like.

Not one version of you.

All the good ones.

What you wear doesn’t just change how you look in a photograph.

It changes the whole mood of it.

The movement. The attitude. The way you carry yourself. Even the way I photograph you.

That’s one of the things I loved playing with during this shoot. Seeing how a strong styling choice can take a portrait in an entirely different direction.

And that’s exactly why we spend time in a style and design consultation talking about clothes, wardrobe choices, and planning locations before your senior session.

Not because you need a closet full of crazy outfits or anything that feels like a costume.

Because the right outfit gives us somewhere to go.

Soft. Cool. Sporty. Classic. Editorial. A little weird. A little dramatic.

You can be more than one thing.

Consider this your permission slip to not look like everyone else’s senior pictures.

One of the things I came home from PUSH 2026 thinking about was how much wardrobe can change the entire energy of a portrait.

It doesn’t have to be over-the-top fashion.

It might be a great pair of jeans. Your soccer jersey. Something vintage. A dress you feel incredible in. A weird pair of shoes you’re obsessed with.

The magic isn’t in wearing the “right” thing.

It’s in bringing more of you into the photograph. That concert outfit? Yeah that’s the one!
