Hello Equestrienne Riders,

I know for a couple of the Gymkhana Riding clubs the season is over such as Circle D Horseman and possibly Nevada County Horseman's Inc and CGA District 27 has a few more shows remaining. Many of you have seen my work and purchased digital photographs of you and your majestic animals conquering the various gymkhana obstacles. If you wanted photographs of you and your horse from a previous event , I have good news, I keep all of my photographs on a hard-drive for just that reason. In addition to gymkhana event photographs, I am also available for private photograph sessions of you and your horse(s) or just your horse in a variety of settings. These settings can be open pastures/fields, barns etc. If interested in a private photograph session please don't hesitate to contact me via this page or my email. A private photography session makes a great gift for that special someone no matter what time of year it is. I attached some examples of pasture and barn photographs I have made over the years.

Thank you,Daren Maloy

Hello Photo Fans,

This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of photographing all of the talented Riders and their Majestic Horses at Circle D Horseman in Vacaville. This Gymkhana show consisted of the following seven events Speed Barrels, Poles 2, Speed Ball, Poles 1, Hurry Scurry, Big T and Barrels. I primarily photographed Speed Barrels, Poles 1,Hurry Scurry, Big T and Barrels. It's kinda of hard to photograph two events going on simultaneously. Below I attached some of my favorite photographs from this Saturday's event. The bonus of this show was the Riders and their horses wore their Halloween costumes at the end of the day. Very awesome costumes and creativity. If you are interested in photographs from this event, please send me a email with the details of your riding attire and what your horse looks like. I will go through my files and get back to you as soon as I can. As always, looking forward to the next event.

Thank you,Daren Maloy

Hello Photo Fans,

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the Run for the Cure event at the Circle D Horseman Arena. This was the first time I attended an event there. First off the arena is huge and very well kept up. In addition, there are numerous locations around the arena to photograph the more dangerous Gymkhana events form outside the arena. Primarily I photographed from the Eastern end of the arena for Poles 1 and Single Stake. For Speed Ball, Birangle and Quads events, I was either on the edge of the arena or located down the middle between arena 1 and 2. Due to the arena being split into two separate arenas, I was unable to photograph the Flags, Figure 8 Stake and Keyhole events. Throughout the day I met many talented riders and their majestic horses. As a Retired US Army Combat Veteran, being around the horses is a calming experience. This is just one of the reasons why I often describe horses as majestic animals. When the day was complete and I finally got back home, I began the long process of downloading the days photographs unto my hard drive. Throughout the day, between my two cameras, I made around 4000 photographs yesterday. Attached below is a small sample of what I captured throughout the day. I would like to thank the Circle D Horseman for allowing me to com out and photograph all of the talented riders and their majestic horses.

Thank you, Daren Maloy

Hello Riders of CGA District 27,

I would first like to say that it was wonderful seeing all of you and your majestic horses conquering the various Gymkhana events this past Saturday. Throughout the day I captured all of you during 6 of the 7 events, Barrels ,Figure 8 Flags, Speedball, Hurry Scurry, Poles 1 and Speed Barrels. I did not photograph the Single Stake event, maybe next time. If you are interested in photographs please send me a email with what you were wearing, horse color and anything else that will help me find photographs of you to my email at [email protected] . In the meantime, attached below are some samples of the photographs I took throughout the day. Looking forward to the next event.

Hello Photo Fans,

I know it has been awhile since I have posted anything to this page. Unfortunately allot has been going on just not making photographs. This past Saturday, 02 Apr 2022, I had the pleasure to photograph the riders and majestic horses of CGA District 27 at their new location at the Amador Fairgrounds open arena. Compared to the closed arena located at the Amador Fairgrounds I think this one is more friendly to spectators and for me as a photographer, for there are more locations in and outside of the arena to shoot from. First off it was really nice to be around the horses again, it is a calming experience. In addition, I met some new people in the group and they were very welcoming.

I arrived at 0815 and was photographing by 0930. The days events were a total of seven Gymkhana courses, Quadrangle, Figure 8 Stake, Keyhole, Poles 2, Big T, Birangle and Single Stake. Of these seven courses, I photographed them all except the Keyhole course, that was my break time. By the end of the day, I ended up making over two thousand photographs. Of course this was reduced after weeding out the photographs that did not meet my strict criteria of sharpness, composition and overall quality I set for myself. If you have seen my work and have read my post, you know that if a photograph is not sharp or blurry where I want it, or if the composition is off and finally if it does not meet my overall quality standards, I delete said photograph and move on. Personally, I would rather have a handful of awesome photographs of a Rider and their horse than several mediocre photographs. Any photographer that says every photograph they take is great is lying to their perspective client and themselves in my humble opinion. There is a old saying in photography, You can literally take 100 shots and only get one or two good ones.

For all of my photographs ,I use a combination of Adobe Lightroom classic and Adobe Photoshop. Below I attached a few photographs I have completed post processing on. These are for viewing and to give some samples from the days event. Please feel free to comment on the photographs.

If you were a rider at the 02 April 2022 CGA District 27 Event and are interested in photographs, please end me a email with the details of your horse and rider so I can look through my files and get back to you.

Till then, Stay safe out there, Daren R. Maloy

Hello Photo Fans,

As usual, I know that it has been awhile since I posted anything. This post is not going to be about my photography, but my current health status. Unfortunately, my wife caught Covid and I ended up getting it from her. First I would like to say that I was one of those that believed it was just a real bad case of the flu. Let me go on record and say that is just hogwash. My first week I was on my own because my wife was in the hospital. There were a number of times that I seriously thought about throwing in the towel if you get my meaning. It wasn't until my wife was able to return home till I felt a sense of hope in getting better. She was and is amazing when it comes to health issues. During my early onset of the illness, I remember collapsing at least three separate times. I don't remember passing out, just coming to on the bathroom floor. Come to find out, my oxygen levels were very low. In addition, my eating/appetite was either very low or just nonexistent. One of the worst parts was going to the emergency room due to the collapsing. In all honesty, that was when I became very scared and felt alone. As a Retired US Army Combat Veteran, the thought of being alone and not in control is very difficult. My ER experience was very discouraging and because I didn't meet certain criteria, I was eventually sent home. If I can avoid it, I will do all that I can to avoid the ER in the future. A few things I have noticed since this whole ordeal started. You need to have a good support system or group of friends to help you out. Having someone that knows medications is a life saver. In this case my wife and her knowledge she gained from the hospital. Another thing I have noticed, during the first couple weeks, it seemed like minutes were hours and hours like days, time just slowed down to a crawl. I am still recovering and getting better each day, but of course I have to take things slow and not over do it. Hopefully some of this information will help if you happen to get sick. My wife has shared information with me on the various vaccines and their effects and also some details of basic day to day things that help you get better. When you sleep, which your body will require allot of, it's advised not to stay in one position for excessive amount of time. Otherwise, the virus can crystalize and effect your organs and lungs. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this virus, but it can be managed to where you can live a normal life. Ultimately, rest, fluids and basic medications and taking it easy are what will get you back to feeling better and normal again. Hope this helps anyone, and if you are sick stay home and let your body rest. Thank you for your time, Daren

Hello Photo Fans,

I know it has been awhile since I posted anything to my page. Well I had the pleasure to attend CGA District 27's first event of the season at the Amador Fair Grounds. It was really nice to see the group and their majestic horses. The new location is really nice and open. The venue was held in the Benny Brown Arena inside the Amador Fair Grounds. Below are some of my favorite photographs from the event. Please feel free to comment on the photographs. If you are a Equestrian Rider and/or owner and are interested in Photographs of you and your Majestic horse in a variety of settings, in the arena doing Gymkhana events, barn, or out on a pasture, please let me know. I would love to capture some timeless moments of you and your majestic animal.

Thank you, Daren R. Maloy

Hello Photo Fans,

I know it has been a little while since I posted anything. Here are some recent photographs from this past Saturday's Bay Area OTHG practice event at the Argyll MX Track in Dixon, Ca. I decided to try slowing my shutter speed down to around 1/160th of sec this time. It was a bit of a challenge but, I really liked how many of the photographs turned out. It will get easier with more repetition. If you are a Motocross rider and often visit one of the local tracks in Northern Cali. Maybe I will capture your awesome bike and yourself kicking up some dirt.

Thank you, Daren Maloy

This is why we as Americans stand up for the national anthem and put our hand over our heart,or Salute the flag if you are presently serving in the military or a veteran. Thank you to my fellow veterans for your sacrifice to our country. May America always be strong and the symbol of hope and freedom to the world.

Hello Photo Enthusiest,

I know it has been awhile since i posted something here. There is something that I have to get off my chest. That is, when someone asks me about photographs and I take the time to send them either a link or images to look through. Then, I don't hear any feedback as to what images they may be interested in or even a thank you for sending these, but at this time I did not see that I am interested in. I am o.k with honesty. The part I am not o.k with , is when I message someone and get completely ignored. Not only is that rude and disrespectful, but it makes a person not want to interact with you in the future. If anyone has feedback on this, I would welcome it.

Thank You, Daren Maloy
