Mandeville Photography Welcome! I’m Christy Mandeville, an award-winning artist in St. Petersburg, Florida capturing nature's raw beauty & power. Follow my adventures!

When not storm-chasing, I’m home with my better half, Ross, & our Burmese cats, Monkey & Mocha. Christy Mandeville is an award-winning landscape and fine-art photographer based in Saint Petersburg, Florida, United States. As a critically acclaimed global diverse artist known for her trademark lightning photography, Christy vividly brings to life a story of balance and seeing nature’s fury to embra

ce its raw beauty and power. One constant is always balancing the light and the dark. Shooting at night requires leaving the lens open longer to gather light but the intense burst of lightning can easily overwhelm resulting in a completely over-exposed photograph. Christy patiently waits hours upon hours for nature to provide her with the perfect moments to share with you. Christy invites you to join us and gaze in awe at the Perfect Moments she captures. In a single instance, Christy forever encapsulates nature's awesome spectacle into a unique story and today she is happy to extend and share those experiences with you.

“It cannot be taught it has to be felt. It is that single moment where photography becomes the artist's signature. A moment missed is a moment forever dedicated to the memory of time alone." -Christy Mandeville (2023)

6.4.2026 -- Sometimes the most overcast days give us the biggest surprises. 🌩️🌅

I was knee-deep in video projects tonight and decided to take the drone up around 7:30 for a quick mental break. The sky completely opened up into this incredible fiery palette. So thankful to have my gear ready to go so I don't miss these unexpected burns!
Captured a ton of stills, but here is a tiny fraction of the set. Which one is your favorite? Let me know! 🚁🧡

Largo, FL 6.3.2026 -- When sleep gets canceled by Mother Nature! ⚡️⛈️

The clock struck 2:00 AM, and my head had just hit the pillow when I heard that unmistakable rumble. I popped straight out of bed, grabbed my Galaxy S21, and ran outside—and BOOM! Pure, wicked lightning was completely lighting up the sky.

I quickly secured my phone and tripod out on the covered front patio, locked it in at a 45x hyperlapse, and sprinted back inside to safety.

Today was the very first chance I’ve had to sit down and review the footage, and I am absolutely blown away. This is just one of the still images the S21 managed to capture from the storm!

Sometimes the best shots happen when you're supposed to be dreaming. 😴📸

5.27.2026 -- Triple the equipment, triple the luck! ⚡️🌙☁️

Tonight’s mission was all about capturing the moon on my Olympus and a hyperlapse of the clouds on my phone, but the sky had a surprise plan. My drone managed to snag this incredible lightning strike.

Sometimes, being in the right place at the right time—with all the cameras rolling—pays off in the best way possible.

5.22.2026 -- Last night's sunset was wrapping up, and I was just bringing the drone in when I saw the sky lighting up. Looking east from Largo toward Tampa, the storm was putting on a serious show. Once the drone was safely on the ground, I spent the next 90 minutes just shooting the lightning. This is definitely my favorite shot so far. but stay tuned—I've got a few more good ones on the way! ⚡🌩️

SpaceX Falcon 9 | 5.21.2026 | From Largo, FL

Exhausted after working until 3 AM, I remembered the early morning launch and decided to take a gamble. I threw my S21 on a flexible tripod, guessed wildly at where the "jellyfish" might show up in the northeastern sky, locked it into a 45x hyperlapse, and just prayed to the rocket gods that it would actually work. 🙏✨
Cut to 7:30 AM: Running on 3.5 hours of sleep, fed the kitties 🐈‍⬛, checked the camera, and saw THIS. Worth every second of lost sleep! (And yes, I went straight back to bed right after this 😂).

To make it even better, I had Gemini generate a custom, pure-instrumental synth track to perfectly match the vibe of this twilight magic

5.18.2026 -- I am running on empty. Between flying the drone all day yesterday and today (including at night—the lightning was amazing!), and running both phones, my Osmo Action 5 Pro, and my primary camera, I'm exhausted.

I've decided I'm going to take my time sharing the absolute beauty I've captured over the last 48 hours. This is just a TINY sneak peek... yes, we actually got a sunset in Indian Rocks Beach tonight.

Vote below on what I should share next 👇

👇Hyperlapses from both phones and my Osmo Action 5 Pro
👇Clouds, lightning and overnight star trails)
👇Drone video (storm bands, lightning, and clouds)

5.17.2026 -- I got such an awesome surprise last night! I was heading out to set up my Samsung S21 on the car roof for its usual star trail time-lapse when I suddenly noticed flashes lighting up the eastern sky. After watching for a few minutes and realizing it wasn't stopping, I sprinted inside, grabbed my drone, and launched it right from the driveway. I let it hover for about 20 minutes, and this is just one of the incredible shots it captured. So freaking cool!
