While searching through old photos on my external hard drive, I came across several photos of sunsets I have taken over the last two years. I must admit as much as I love capturing the brilliant color in them, there is something equally captivating about converting them to black and white and seeing the detail and the depth of the clouds that surrounds the horizon in certain sunset photos. The Photograph Of The Day for November 20th, 2022 is one such photo. I hope you enjoy it.

Spent a large part of this afternoon looking throw photos on my external hard drive searching for a large quantity of photos that shall we say are missing and presumed lost. While I have not found those missing photos, I have rediscovered hundreds if not thousands of photos I had forgot I had taken, many of which were still unedited. While reacquainting myself with these photos, I decided to edit some, and freshen the edits of others. The Photograph Of The Day for November 19th, 2022 is one of those photos. I could not tell you when this photo was taken but this female cardinal sure made a willing model that day. Hope you enjoy her...

The Photograph Of The Day for November 18th, 2022 finds me experimenting with another photo from last Winter as a potential Christmas card or Christmas tree ornament, depending on my ability to successfully edit it. Let me know your thoughts...

The Photograph Of The Day for November 17th, 2022 is what happens when the photographer and artist behind the photograph of the day has no particular photo in mind for inspiration and is void of creativity for the night. At the very least, the bright yellow sunflower against the darker purple background adds a bit of color to this cold November night.

Spent the last hour looking through photos on my external hard drive only to discover over time I have lost even more of the photos that I have taken the last two years than I realized. While this initially upset me, I came to the reality that I still have thousands to choose from and each new day is an opportunity to capture the next best photo. I also realized there is an infinity of opportunities to edit and reedit the thousands of photos I do still have. That is what I have done with The Photograph Of The Day for November 15th. 2022. This sunflower photo was taken earlier this summer. As you can see I took some creative liberties with it while editing. I hope you like the end result as much as I do.

Was looking through some of the photos I took a couple of weekends ago when fall foliage was at its peak. I was surprised that I had edited this photo but had never shared it. This photo, while not your typical fall foliage photo, to me best represented the fall color I found around me that day. It is The Photograph Of The Day for November 14th, 2022. I hope the color brightens your Monday!

The beautiful thing about photography is, once you have taken a photo, either by using the many different editing techniques offered on most cameras or by simply importing the photo into your computer, you can edit the photo and give it many different looks and feels. That is what I have done with another familiar photo. I am amazed at how converting this photo to black and white brings out so much detail and yet gives it a much different feel. I hope you like the reedited version of this photo that is The Photograph Of The Day for November 13th, 2022.

I know you have seen this photo before too, but it was adorned in full fall color then. The curious artist in me couldn't resist seeing how it would look in black and white. I thought it worked well. So well in fact that I decided to make it The Photograph Of The Day for November 12th, 2022. Let me know what you think...

I have struggled with what photo to use for the photograph of the day on this particular holiday, and I probably should apologize for using a photo that has already appeared as the photograph of the day, although it was with a different edit. I realize I could have and should have used a more patriotic themed photo for this day. It isn't like I don't already have a variety of flag shots I could have used for this space. But that isn't what this day or this post is about to me. From the moment I snapped this photo and saw just how well I had captured what I saw that day, it has become one of my most favorite yet most haunting photos I have ever taken. When you look at this photo, tell me, what do you see? Most of you would tell me that you see an empty bench overlooking a lake. Let me tell you what I see. I see a the outline of a young father sitting on that bench teaching his young son how to fish. I see a grandfather with his grandchild again teaching them how to fish. I see an aging father with his grown son sharing time together enjoying something they both love. I see brother, friends on that bench spending time in conversation while fishing. I imagine in many of those scenes that have taken place numerous times throughout the years, some of the people I imagined were veterans. They served our country willingly and proudly. Sadly man of them who did return, did not return to us the way they left. Many of them still battle the images that fill their mind from their time served on foreign soil. Unfortunately proof of this fact is evidenced by the number veterans who choose to live on the streets or in the homeless shelters all across this great country they freely chose to serve and protect. Even more of them choose to end their life because of the battles they still face inside their own minds. My challenge for you today on this Veterans Day is this, when you look at this photo and the peaceful scene it depicts, may it prompt you to think about those who have served in your own life. May it prompt you to seek them out and thank them for their service. May it also encourage you to spend time them, listening to their stories and offering the a time of peace and serenity like is pictured in this photo. That is why I have chosen this as The Photograph Of Day for November 11th, 2022. May I say thank you to all of you have served. Thank you for the freedom I enjoy today. Your service is appreciated...
