CKP Studio - Connecting The Dots - Our new REEL

For the last 5 plus years I’ve been working with a talented bunch of creators over at CKP Studio. I assumed that the majority of my current client friends would have connected the dots, but that’s not the case. Which is completely my fault :)

I haven’t done a good enough job bringing exposure to the full service approach to photography and video production that the studio offers. WE all have plenty of experience in architectural, design, residential, corporate and commercial photography and video production. With that experience we work each project with a collaborative approach, and typically work those projects along side another studio mate.

I could go on and on about the racks of equipment and supplies that 5 professional have, but I’d rather focus on the biggest reason you need to meet us…….US!

Enjoy the video and please head over to https://ckp.studio to learn more!

In architectural photography, understanding the context of a building is just as important as capturing its form. Each structure exists within a particular environment that influences its design and functionality. When photographing a building, consider how the surrounding landscape, urban elements, and even the time of day can enhance the story you want to tell. For instance, a contemporary building may appear stark and modern against a bustling city backdrop, while the same structure could evoke serenity when framed by natural elements like trees or water.

To make your photographic narrative richer, try integrating elements of the environment into your composition. This approach not only showcases the architecture but also highlights the relationship between the building and its surroundings. Have you ever taken a moment to think about how a building interacts with its environment? What stories do you see unfolding through the lens of architecture?

At Cory Klein Photography, we believe that every photograph is an opportunity to explore and share the unique dialogue between structures and their surroundings. Let's capture that essence together.

In the realm of architectural photography, understanding the interplay of light and shadow is fundamental in bringing a structure to life. Light can dramatically influence the mood of a photograph, accentuating textures and highlighting architectural details that might otherwise go unnoticed. For instance, the soft, diffused light during golden hour can lend a warm, inviting quality to a building, while harsh midday sun can create stark contrasts that emphasize its geometric forms.

Have you ever experimented with photographing a structure at different times of the day? The results can be astonishing. A building that appears rigid and cold under the bright sun can transform into a cozy haven during sunset. Moreover, the interplay of artificial light at night can create an entirely different narrative, showcasing the building's functionality and character after dark.

When planning your next shoot, consider the time of day as a critical factor in your creative process. What story does the light tell about the structure? How does it interact with the materials and environment? By paying attention to these nuances, you can elevate your architectural photography and create images that resonate deeply with your audience.

Let us know your experiences with lighting in architectural photography. What techniques or times of day do you find most effective?

When it comes to architectural photography, composition plays a crucial role in how a structure is perceived. Have you ever noticed how the angle of a photograph can completely transform the viewer's experience? By strategically framing your shots, you can highlight the unique features of a building, whether it's the intricate details of the facade or the sweeping lines of its design.

One effective technique is to incorporate leading lines that draw the eye toward the subject. This can be achieved by utilizing pathways, staircases, or even the edges of surrounding buildings. Additionally, paying attention to the symmetry or asymmetry of a structure can create a visually compelling image that captures attention.

Consider the time of day as well; the golden hour, shortly after sunrise or before sunset, offers softer light that enhances textures and colors, making your images truly pop.

When considering architectural photography, it's essential to think about the narrative behind each structure. Every building has its own story, shaped by its design, purpose, and surroundings. Have you ever stood in front of a magnificent structure and felt a connection to its history? That's the feeling we aim to evoke through our photography.

One valuable tip for both photographers and enthusiasts alike is to think about the context in which a building exists. Look for elements in the environment that can enhance your shot—such as the interplay between natural light and shadows, reflections in glass surfaces, or the juxtaposition of old and new architecture. This approach not only adds depth to your images but also invites viewers to engage with the story behind the architecture.

At Cory Klein Photography, we believe that every photograph should transport the viewer and spark their imagination. What architectural story are you most passionate about sharing? Let us know in the comments—we would love to hear your thoughts!

When it comes to architectural photography, capturing the essence of a structure requires more than just a good camera; it demands an understanding of light, angles, and the story you want to tell. One key tip I often share with aspiring photographers is to explore the concept of perspective.

Have you ever noticed how a building can look entirely different depending on your viewpoint? By experimenting with various angles and heights, you can reveal unique details and characteristics that might otherwise go unnoticed. For instance, shooting from a lower angle can create a sense of grandeur, making a building appear more imposing and dramatic. Conversely, capturing the same structure from above can highlight surrounding landscapes and contextualize its place within the environment.

Additionally, consider the time of day when planning your shoots. The golden hour—just after sunrise or before sunset—offers a soft, warm light that enhances textures and creates captivating shadows. This can breathe life into your photographs and evoke a specific mood or atmosphere that reflects the architect's vision.

What are some of your favorite architectural structures that you think deserve a unique perspective? Share your thoughts and let’s discuss how we can bring those ideas to life through photography.
