Hey Dads! This post is for you 😎

How many of my Dads out there roll their eyes when they hear “It’s time to get ready for the family photos!”

It’s ok, you’re not alone 😂

Here are a few ways to make it fun and memorable though:

1. Play with your kiddos! Tickle fights, big bear hugs, play your favorite game, all to create those genuine smiles and laughs that only you can produce.

2. Don’t take yourself too seriously - again, the best photos come from having the most fun! Enjoy the outing as a family and make memories together.

3. Schedule a special treat for your family after the shoot and surprise them! It’ll help you stay motivated too 💪🏻

Why being a photographer means so much to me ❤️

For the longest time I would grab my camera and take pictures with excitement because I really do love creating beautiful photos for families.

It wasn’t until last year though that having photos of my own REALLY resonated deeply in my heart and shifted my perspective as a photographer.

Today is my Mom’s heavenly birthday. She would have been 61 but the Lord called her home on April 1, 2022. Pictures are some of the greatest blessings for me! This photo was taken on her birthday just a few years prior when my sister and I surprised her for the weekend. What a gift it is to look at this and think of all the precious memories that bring a smile to my face.

Pictures provide you with memories. I’m grateful that one day I’ll be able to pull out this photo and share with a family of my own about the incredible person my Mom was and how much joy she brought to our lives.

Pictures truly mean the world. So, take the selfie, capture the silly moments, book the session, print the photos, it’ll be worth it - I promise.

Let’s talk posing!

Did you know that I’m not really a fan of structured poses? In fact, I think some of the best photos come from the unscripted, candid moments where we just get to capture your family as is.

Hugs, tickling, eskimo kisses, and of course a few games sprinkled in there make for some of the sweetest moments during your session. Don’t be afraid to embrace who you are as a family and let your personality shine 🤩

Of course, we’ll get those classic family photos in there too and some individual shots but the rest of the time, we simply go with the flow 👌🏻

5 Ways To Best Prepare For Your Family Session:

1. Neutral outfits with a pop of color! The best outfits are the ones that subtly coordinate with each other. Always happy to help with outfit choices!

2. If you have littles, keep in mind their nap schedules and bedtimes and when you book your session. And bring snacks - we never judge bribery 😂

3. Come ready to have FUN! 🥳 Too often people feel nervous and they aren’t sure how to pose or get those genuine smiles from their families - leave that part to me and just enjoy the time together!

4. Trust your photographer - often times I finish a shoot and people say “I hope you got something useable in there.” And the best part for me is when I get to deliver their gallery and you wouldn’t even know there were meltdowns or tears taking place 30 seconds prior - sounds familiar? We got you!!!

5. Always ask about prints! Life is too short to not get your photos printed. How often we get the online gallery and never actually print our precious pictures. Ask your photographer about their print services or where they recommend printing from.

EXCITING NEWS 🎉🎉🎉🎉

After two years of not being behind the lens as much, I’ve decided that I’m going to step back into photography. I will continue to run my online business, but being behind the camera and getting to bless so many families with beautiful photos is one of the greatest JOYS of my life.

I’m so deeply grateful for all the people I have the opportunity to capture and can’t wait to bless even more families. And what better time to get back into it than Fall?! 😍
