Essex County Country Club is often cited as having the best back nine in New Jersey, and for good reason. The original Tillinghast layout was redesigned by Seth Raynor and Charles Banks in 1926. The club hired Gil Hanse in 2023 for a full restoration.

Needless to say, a list of Tillinghast, Raynor, Banks, and Hanse as designers on the scorecard sets some lofty expectations, and I believe ECCC lives up to every bit of hype.

I recently had the pleasure of shooting Essex County Country Club the morning before round 2 of the 111th Met Open Championship.

As one of the founding members of the MGA, it was a surprise to me that ECCC had never hosted the Met Open before. The course proved to be a fantastic test and presented perfect playing conditions all week long.

One of golf’s most familiar terms has a connection to the first tee at Essex Fells Country Club.

According to the story, Canadian golfer David Mulligan was playing at Essex Fells in the 1920s when, after a rough opening drive, he took another shot from the first tee. When asked what he was doing, he reportedly explained that it was a “correction shot.” Thus the invention of the mulligan.

Essex Fells Country Club is a fantastic 1920s Seth Raynor design in Essex Fells, New Jersey. The club recently went through a major restoration, expanding greens and restoring bunkers to bring back to life much of the original Raynor routing.

In addition, they invested in a world-class clubhouse renovation to be paired with their criminally underrated golf course. If you get a chance to play Essex Fells, I highly recommend you take advantage.

I’m excited to share a few of my favorite shots and clips from earlier this summer at Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell, New Jersey.

The club is consistently atop people’s list of the most underrated courses in the state, and rightfully. Is pure, perfect golden age architecture. It also has some of the most challenging greens you’ll ever play.

As we move through the height of the summer, I wanted to share a few more of my favorite photos from the ground from June and July.

Some big highlights from the last couple months have been the 61st Charity Clambake at Manasquan River Golf Club, some pixel stretching at the 31st Dunning Head Professional Championship at Somerset Hills Country Club, and a 100+ degree day at the E-Z-GO Pro President Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club.

I’ve probably spent the most time shooting at NJPGA Junior events lately. It’s always a ton of fun each summer watching the next generation of golfers compete on such a high level.

I’m excited to share a bunch of content from my recent shoot earlier this summer at Trump National Golf Club Colts Neck.

The club features probably one of my favorite features at any club - the 19th hole (last 3 photos). The island green is surrounded by a pond directly behind the clubhouse. The short par 3 makes for a perfect finish to a great round of golf.

If you are ever in the Colts Neck New Jersey area and have the chance to play it, you definitely have to take advantage!

The 125th playing of the New Jersey Amateur Championship is set to begin this coming Monday, and what better spot to host than the illustrious Baltusrol Golf Club.

The players will be tested by both the Upper and Lower courses. Im looking forward to watching play on the Upper in particular, which just reopened in 2025 after a complete Gil Hanse restoration.

It should be quite the exciting few days for local New Jersey golf, at one of the best championship venues the state has to offer.

I’ve been anxiously awaiting the chance to share some of my favorite content I captured from my week at Manasquan River Golf Club, and there’s no time like the present.

I was lucky to have a few great mornings and evenings to shoot a truly great golf course. 62nd NJPGA Charity Clambake winner Grant Sturgeon said it was the firmest and fastest course he’s played in years. It was a fantastic test for the players and a great setting for the week!
