Had a little fun this week capturing this red headed woodpecker. Very rare for this bird to be seen in the Northeast but it's been hanging around and making bird watchers and photographers happy.

Weathered by time, framed by the harbor.

A glimpse of Vineyard Haven's maritime character, where old wooden boat hoists, sailboats, and a sunrise sky tell a story of life along the waterfront.

Lucky enough to capture a little piece of history this past weekend.

As part of the Alison Shaw Workshop group, I happened to be in the right place at the right time to photograph the historic schooner Shenandoah, as she set sail from Martha’s Vineyard for the final time. With no engine of her own, she was first pulled by tug before beginning the journey that marked the end of an extraordinary era.

After decades as part of the Vineyard’s maritime landscape, the Shenandoah is now in Mystic, Connecticut for the winter, with her future still to be determined.

For many, The Black Dog may be best known for its iconic apparel and familiar logo, but behind it is a rich maritime history created by the late Captain Bob Douglas — and Shenandoah was a remarkable part of that story.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have witnessed, and photographed, one of the final chapters of her long life on Martha’s Vineyard.

It’s hard to see the beach erosion that comes with big storms, but I can’t help being in awe of the power of the ocean—and trying to capture it through my lens. 📷 'easter
