Happy Birthday, KJ!!! 🎀 I met this sweet girly's momma when she was my intern/student teacher in my classroom several years ago. We quickly learned that we grew up in the same town, and my brother actually taught her brothers! We became fast friends, I got to photograph her engagement, bridals, and wedding, and last weekend, when I was in town visiting, I got to stop by and meet their sweet little babe, who turns one today! Of course I had to snap a few photos.

Teaching is hard and not always fulfilling in the moment, but these are the times that make what I did for 28 years so rewarding. 🥰

From chasing each other around, singing and dancing to Justin Bieber (can you find the Baby-Baby-Baby-OOOOOO shot?), twirling in dresses, and putting Baby Kitty to bed...photo sessions with the Auch family are always a fun adventure! These girls have so much energy and are so much fun! These photos are exactly why I tell my family photography clients not to worry about posing and that we are just going to PLAY! I even published a blog post a couple of years ago using the acronym PLAY to help prepare families, especially ones with littles, for their photo session. Payten and Jordan's wedding yesterday was so full of sentimental and joyful moments between friends and family--there are so many photos to edit and share over the upcoming days! There will be beautiful details today, but I already know what I'll be looking for.
The moment they finally see each other.
The way a dad watches his daughter before he gives her away.
The hugs that linger just a second longer than expected.
I'll watch two people realize, "This is really happening."

And I'll quietly make sure those moments are never forgotten.
