I had another amazing opportunity to document a Best Defense Foundation program. Last month, we traveled to Vietnam with eight MACV-SOG veterans. If you’ve never heard of the MACV-SOG unit, it was by design. These guys were on their own for most of the war and weren’t even authorized to talk about where they had been or what they had done until the government declassified the program records in the late ‘90s.

Taking these gentlemen back to where they fought, lost friends, and overcame some major obstacles to say the least was an honor. From our first few days in Ho Chi Minh venturing to the various sites, trying to find the safe houses and field offices they spent time at, to holding a ceremony at Marble Mountain for their fallen brothers. The whole team was treated to a home cooked meal by the amazing chef Duc Mango at his home. It was moving and a story that was a privilege to document.
