Littermates Tucker and Emma did everything together. They entered this world together, found a forever home together, were loved so, so much…together, and a couple days after our session, Tucker and Emma left this world. Together.

I’d first photographed them a few years ago on a beautiful early morning. Their humans noted how appropriate it was that their last session happened to be on a beautiful evening. We met at one of their favorite for an unscripted, lowkey, celebration of their lives. (They also brought their newest adopted sister, Summer. She definitely brought the heat! 🖤)

Tucker and Emma both had age-related mobility issues so the small fenced-in area was perfect. And the sun understood the assignment. I’m not saying Mother Nature is in on these important end-of-life sessions with me. But I’m not saying she’s not either.

I hope these images will help Tucker and Emma’s family remember them as what they were - an absolute joy and a special type of bond that you don’t see every day. Rest easy, you two 💗

I got to meet up with Brody for a photo adventure to commemorate all that is Brody. He’s a Portuguese Water Dog so I figured he might enjoy some access to water… I was partly correct! He did splash around a bit but was most happy to just frolic around the fields and look cute ☺️

Earlier this year Brody’s groomer alerted his humans to a concerning lump on his body that could have easily been missed. Because of their persistence and attention to detail, Brody was diagnosed and quickly treated for a cancerous mass.

This is most certainly a post to spotlight handsome Brody but also to take a minute to recognize the important caregivers in our dogs’ lives. To the dog walkers, vets, daycare providers, and groomers: we see you, we appreciate you, and we love how much you love our dogs 💗

Party of 4 - Oscar, Koda, Emma, and Ruby!

Each of these dogs had such unique temperaments and we had so much fun at their session. It can be a little chaotic with multiple dogs but it’s the best kind of chaos and I love it so much!

A little break in the outdoor photos to share the pups that came to visit us at VT Cider Lab! The Cider Lab turned three and they threw a heck of a party - complete with music, studio minis, and the most delicious hard cider of course. I had four backdrop colors and over 20 dogs stopped by. Some were repeat clients who had to add different colors to their collections, some dogs had never been in front of my camera before, but each and every one was stinkin’ CUTE ☺️

Which color backdrop would you like to see more of? Rumor has it I may be popping up in October somewhere… 💜🤍💚🖤

Today is World Photography Day and in this age of AI, let’s recognize the value in having *real* moments captured. Don’t let those pass you by because they sure as s**t won’t come back around a second time. I just saw a quote that said “Photography becomes more meaningful when you realize the simple fact that you’ll never photograph the same moment twice.” (- )

This statement couldn’t be more true for Dexter and his family. The unofficial mayor of the neighborhood, who looked so dapper in his signature bow ties, romped around with his family for a session before he underwent surgery that would change his physical appearance permanently. (I have a sneaking suspicion that his goofy, happy-go-lucky temperament isn’t going anywhere though, despite any medical procedures ☺️)

At just six years old, Dexter had been diagnosed with the “c-word.” His family wanted to memorialize the gentle giant with a photo session that captured his essence - joy. And lots of love.

Dexter had his surgery and has been doing well. I’m assuming after some recovery time he’s back to hamming it up with the neighbors and showing off his bow ties and big old smile, though it might look a little different these days.

Let’s send some love to Dexter and his family that adores him as they all heal together 🤍

Johnny’s session was short and sweet. His body was tired and it was difficult for him to move around much so we chose a few spots around the beautiful property and did our best to keep this gentle giant comfortable.

I’d been forewarned that Johnny had a bit of stranger danger and took his job as Dad’s protector very seriously, but just with lots of big woofs - his bark was much much bigger than his bite! I kept a long lens on to give Johnny lots of space until I was sure he wasn’t too wary of me. When I was able to get in close, I asked Johnny’s human to go give him some snuggles.

The cancer in Johnny’s chest had taken its toll and Johnny was laid to rest the following day. Both of his humans work in the veterinary field but I know that doesn’t make it any easier for them. None of us are impervious to the pain and emptiness that we’re left with when our best friends are gone, no matter our profession.

Take this as your reminder to make the most of our lives with the dogs that truly are extensions of our souls. Hold them tight, slow down and enjoy the time we have with them. Because forever wouldn’t be long enough.

Rest in peace, sweet Johnny 🌈🐾

Have you heard the saying “Horses are like potato chips. You can’t have just one”? Horses are definitely like potato chips and when I arrived to photograph Beau, his human asked me if I’d be willing to include her old guy, Barry. The answer was, and always will be, yes. Absolutely.

Barry is into his early thirties and he’s been around the block a time or two. He’s a super sweet and gentle guy, and was happy to pose for some peppermints.

Beau was a little less confident about the experience but we stayed close to his buddies and let him run off some steam in the pasture. He even showed his silly side which is what won him my Derpy Horse of 2025 giveaway last fall! (Swipe to see his entry 😝)

Stay tuned for an announcement this fall for your horse’s chance to win a session. Keep those cameras handy for when they’re being extra silly!

You know I love making silhouettes and I love it even more when you request them at your session! We had to reschedule Deegan and Ryder to get the right conditions and Mother Nature *finally* delivered. Stay tuned for some other fun images from this night ✨

Ollie had a big job at his session - to help his parents make an important announcement! 🤍

I think maybe his favorite part was the action photos, but he certainly nailed all the things.

Such a fun little guy and a lovely family!
