Season of Changes

Revisiting this old classic shot taken back in the fall of 2022, with Mt Sneffels wrapped by a ribbon of clouds. Lemon-lime color aspens were lighted up with fleeting ray of light breaking through a morning storm.

This is the season of changes. The hot days of summer begin to fade, the air turns crisp, and Colorado starts showing off its greatest colors against snow-powdered peaks… And we are ready!

Indian Peaks from the Continental Divide

Last weekend, I took a trip to this favorite spot in the Indian Peaks Wilderness.

This hike will be forever memorable, not only for watching a fantastic sunrise but also because of a funny coincidence of time: I had only 2 1/2 hours of sleep, 2 1/2 hours of a drive, 2 2/1 hours of hike, and a miscalculation of sunrise that made wait up in the pass for 2 1/2 hours.

Nevertheless, it’s always to be back to this corner of the Continental Divide, and then having a stop at the Middle Boulder Creek Falls on the way back.

Wildflowers in the Indian Peaks High Country

Just when I thought wildflower season was coming to an end, I took a hike to this alpine lake in the Indian Peaks Wilderness and, tucked away in a quiet corner, found this absurdly beautiful field filled with some of the most diverse wildflowers I could imagine, and the smoke gave an extra touch with this atmospheric glow.

Nature keeps surprising in every corner.

Emerald Gem in the San Juans

A couple of weekends ago, while exploring places I’d never been before, I came across this emerald-colored alpine lake. Known to some but still flying under the radar, it’s one of those special corners that has remained untouched and true to its nature. In many ways, it reminds me of the famous Blue Lakes, yet it has been spared from overtourism.

That evening, I had the entire basin to myself. The stillness of the lake below and the silence of the surrounding peaks pulled me into a moment of pure contemplation.
