5 years!! Searching high and low. Deliberately scouring every tree, downed log, open field, and bog. Miles of hiking, hours of searching. Thinking that it may never actually happen for me to see this magnificent bird. The thoughts running rampant, you're never seeing one, there is no Owl here...and then BAM! Walking around the corner of the trail, glancing up to my right, noticing a large grey blob that looks odd in the deep dark green tree. There it was! The most majestic, peaceful, calm Great Grey Owl. Perched on a branch at the edge of a small forest clearing, just like all the books, and videos said it would be. Patiently waiting for dinner to make a sound.
