How adding black and white photos can add a polished variety to your marketing. 🦓📸

I’m a firm believer that color can add to the story of a photo.

But sometimes, it’s a story that doesn’t need to be told.

The addition, or removal, of color can change what you notice and how an image feels.

Take this photo, for example. The colorful scarves add movement, personality, and visual interest, so I’d keep the color in most uses of the image.

But in other images, color isn’t as essential.

That’s why I like to include a few black and white images alongside the color photos in my brand galleries.

They can be great for:
• Backgrounds for social media graphics
• Creating a cohesive look with team headshots
• Giving you another way to use an image without it feeling repetitive

Small variations can make a big difference.

Adding black and white images to your gallery can create visual interest, shift the feeling of an image, and give your audience something new to notice.

Do these images feel different to you in black and white?

And that’s what makes brand photography so interesting.

There are so many ways to create a gallery that feels like your business and continues to give you plenty to work with long after your session.

The Local Business Spotlight Series is wrapping up!👏🏻

My third and final feature is Coastal Counseling Associates in Medway, Massachusetts.

Alyssa Goff, LMHC, R-DMT | MA & RI Therapist 🌊 🐚 provides boutique therapy to children with individualized, relationship-centered care tailored to each client’s goals, strengths, and experiences. Their goal is to create a space where children, teens, and families can feel safe, connected, and understood while getting the care they need.

Coastal’s mission? To help you find your way back to calmer seas. 🌊

My experience working with Alyssa and her team members, Liza and Beth, was nothing but positive energy. 🧘🏼‍♀️Even with just 15 minutes together, the team brought me into their already collaborative and encouraging environment, which made it so easy to capture their personalities and the way they work together.

📸During our session, we captured team photos, individual headshots, and a few setups of the team interacting with props they use when working with children in their practice.

The result is a collection of images Coastal can use across their website, social media, and promotional materials to introduce their team and help potential families get a better feel for what they can expect.

One of my favorite parts of this shoot was the movement we were able to capture, especially with the colorful scarves and other props in the space. It’s a great example of how the environment you’ve worked so hard to create can become an important part of your branding photography.📷

Your business already has so much that makes it unique. Sometimes you just need the right images to show it.

Interested in getting to know Coastal Counseling Associates a little more? 🌅 I shared the full story, including more about the team and what we captured during our session, over on my blog. https://emmalulacreative.com/blog/🔗🤗

How can your team represent and bring attention to your brand?🤷🏼‍♀️

I know it’s often said that “only getting headshots” isn’t enough for a brand photoshoot.

And I agree it doesn’t tell the entire story. But, it doesn’t make it less important.

Just like your space, your team can often be a potential client’s first introduction to you and your business.

The team at Sinéad Beauty is a great example of how showing up online and how marketing can bring personality to a brand.

Working with Sinéad and her all-women team, Amy, Katherine, and Lily, allowed me  to witness the general comradery and uplifting spirit among them and how that can aid in running a successful business.💛

In preparing for the shoot, Sinéad mentioned wanting to capture her team altogether, in individual headshots, and specifically highlight her newest hire, Lily.

So in addition to capturing the space we highlighted just that, aiming to showcase their personalities, their support of one another, and their enthusiasm for the work they do. 👏🏻

How can your team represent and bring
And that’s a huge part of what I love about branding photography.

You’re showing your audience the love and passion you and your team have for the work you do everyday.

Seeing photos like these allow potential customers to get an idea for who they’ll be dealing with before they book their appointments.

Next up in my Local Business Spotlight Series: Sinéad Beauty in Norfolk, Massachusetts!💋🧖‍♀️

Sinéad O’Sullivan | Norfolk Beauty Salon is a skincare and beauty business owned by Sinéad O Sullivan, offering everything from skin consultations and facials to waxing, red light therapy, dermaplaning, and more.

One of the things I loved most about photographing Sinéad Beauty was getting to see the team behind the business. Sinéad, Amy, Katherine, and Lily have such a sweet, welcoming energy together, and I really wanted that to come through in their photos.

For our 15 minutes together, we captured the women behind the business with team photos and individual headshots, along with the space itself. From the bright storefront filled with essential skincare products to the cozy treatment rooms and the little details that make each space feel personal to each esthetician. 💛

The result was a gallery of images Sinéad Beauty can use to introduce their team, update their website, create social media content, and help potential clients get a better feel for the experience before they even walk through the door.

And that’s one of my favorite things about branding photography. You get to show the people, spaces, and details that make your business yours.

Want to get to know Sinéad Beauty a little better? I shared the full story, including more about how Sinéad got her start and what we captured during our session over on my blog. 📝⬇️

What does your business look like to someone who’s never been there?👩🏼‍💻

This is one reason I think photographing your actual business space is so valuable.

Your website and social media are often someone’s first introduction to you.✨

Before they book, they may want to know:

•What does this place look like?🏘️
•What will it feel like when I get there and work with them?🤝
•What should I expect?🤨

I saw this firsthand when I photographed Jenna Raheb, PT, DPT, PCS

Jenna works with infants, children, teens, and young adults, so the environment she’s created for her patients is an important part of the experience.

When I walked in, I immediately noticed the bright colors, books📚, toys🧸, balance equipment, play kitchen, and all the little details throughout the treatment room and office.

Those weren’t just things in the room. They were part of the brand and services.

So instead of only photographing Jenna, we captured📸:

•The treatment spaces and their details
•Jenna setting the space up for patients coming in
•Jenna interacting with a patient in the space

Now she has images that can show potential families what they’re walking into.

And that’s the goal of branding photography.

You’re not just filling your camera roll with nice photos.

You’re creating a library of images that can help people understand your business before they even decide to reach out.

Thinking about updating your business photos?

I’d love to hear what you have in mind!

I’m so excited to officially kick off my Local Business Spotlight Series with Raheb Physical Therapy in Medfield! 💛 Jenna Raheb, PT, DPT, PCS

Raheb PT is a pediatric physical therapy practice owned by Jenna Raheb, helping infants, children, teens, and young adults.

One of the things I loved when learning about Jenna and her business was how intentional she’s been about creating a space that feels welcoming, comfortable, and not just like any other clinical office.

For our 15 minutes together, we focused on capturing how Jenna interacts with patients, the treatment rooms and details of them, headshots of Jenna, and her setting up the space for patients coming in. 📸

The result was a gallery of images Raheb PT can use to introduce families to the practice, show what to expect when they walk through the door, and bring a little more personality to their marketing.

And honestly, this is exactly what I hoped this series would be about - using thoughtful brand photography to celebrate the businesses in the community.✨

Want to get to know more about Raheb Physical Therapy? I shared more about Jenna, her business, our session, and the importance of brand photography over on my blog.

I love working with businesses right here in my community. If you’re a small business in the Medfield area and are thinking “I could use photos like that!” I’d love to hear from you.
