A T6 Texan II from the 47th Flying Training Wing, 96th Flying Training Squadron out of Laughlin AFB departs Colorado Springs Municipal Airport. The aircraft is painted with WWII invasion stripes and adorns the numbers 425022 and Tail End Charlie on the tail. 425022 was a P38 Lightning from the 96th Fighter Squadron, (which later became the 96th FTS), that performed bomber es**rt missions during WWII. Tail End Charlie was the nickname given to the P38 as they were the last aircraft in the formation during bombing runs.
