Thoughts and images on my recent trip to Olympic National Park

A photo field note from Olympic National Park, where rainforest renewal, rugged coastline, wildfire smoke, and unexpected mountain layers became a reminder to slow down, look closer, and find beauty beyond the epic view.

Check out my field notes and my first set of images from my trip to Seattle:

Seattle felt layered in a way I wasn’t expecting. Between street art, a worn-down piano, Pike Place, old brick, glass towers, and the view from Kerry Park, the city never fully resolved into one thing. It did not need to.

I know I haven't been around here for awhile, and there is reason for that, but that is another post for another time. Going forward I will post only occasionally here. If you want to see my work, it lives on my website.

I did want to share some of the work I have been doing lately.

Last night we drove up to Hogan Park at Highlands Creek in Aurora, a 100 acre stretch of open space woven through a new neighborhood at The Aurora Highlands. I’ve never photographed a ribbon-cutting before, but this one felt especially meaningful. A couple of years ago, Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade shared that our city was facing a shortage of 17,000 preschool slots. That need stuck with us.

My church, Discovery Church Colorado, alongside COSCityHub, stepped in to be part of the solution. After years of hard work—navigating red tape and trailblazing new ground—we opened Lion’s Path Preschool to help meet that need in our community.

A closer look at Genoa.

After sunset I stayed close to town and looked for smaller scenes in Genoa, Colorado.

An old storefront, a dusty car through a garage window, and a half‑finished A‑frame all within a few blocks.

A few views from Genoa, Colorado.
The “World’s Wonder View” tower, the grain silos, the strip of roadside buildings, and the wind farm at sunset all sit in the same landscape.

I shot these over one evening, moving between the tower, main road, and fields as the light changed.
