I’m incredibly proud to share these images, not just because this was such a unique wedding to capture, but because of the people behind it.
Cheyene and Austin have been friends of mine since high school, and Cheyene was one of the very first people who trusted me with a camera during my early years of discovering photography and developing into the creative person I am today. Being invited to document such an important chapter of their lives was both meaningful and humbling.
What made this wedding even more special was Cheyene herself. As a talented fashion designer, she took on the challenge of designing and creating her own wedding gown from the ground up. Choosing a wedding dress is difficult enough, imagining it, designing it, and bringing it to life with your own hands is something entirely different. The amount of creativity, dedication, and craftsmanship poured into that dress was remarkable, and the final result was nothing short of stunning.
This wedding was unlike any I’ve photographed before, and that’s what made it so memorable. From flying out to San Diego, sharing laughs and stories with family the night before, to early morning vow readings along the coast, watching Grandma decorate the cake, documenting the day at the Airbnb, and ending the evening with a beautifully prepared five-course meal and poolside cake cutting, it was a celebration filled with intention, personality, and love.
It was a reminder that no two wedding days are ever the same, and that the most meaningful moments are often found in the details, traditions, and people who make each story unique.
As I continue into my next creative chapter, I’m excited to keep documenting the lives, stories, and milestones of the people who trust me to preserve them. Capturing moments like these, especially for lifelong friends and their families, is something I’ll never take for granted.
