Being back on the island brings back tons of great memories from just the most beautiful pace! The random things you can see here just add to Kodiak's draw; in a day you can see bears, sitka blacktail deer, foxes, mountain goats, orcas, humpback and grey whales, bald eagles, numerous shorebirds, horses and of course some highland cows too all on top of being one of the greenest places in on earth. The pace of life here is truly on island time which makes it all that much more enjoyable, the perfect place to get lost, especially with your camera. We urge anyone visiting kodiak to bring a wide range of lenses to be ready for anything, you never know what your going to see! We love forward to bringing you lots of new frames from our time here and hope you are all doing really well! Thank you as always friends for your incredible support!

Our time in April with the Great Sage Grouse is simply hard to compare with. Super early brick mornings on the Montana prairie under thee biggest sky, stars fading in the rising sun's light all overpowered by booming of the grouse as they display and compete for breeding rights. Far from any people in God's sage country there is no better place to loose yourself than where the grouse call home. After you've gotten some of the frames you want never be afraid to experiment with your shutter speeds, shoot rim and back lit, try new things, you never know what you can create including some unique motion blurs. Watching the males square off and dance and strut their stuff is just mesmerizing, often crouching down facing each other for long periods before brief bouts of stomping, spurring and wing beats whipping up dust creating some backlit magical opportunities. A lot of people want the results but stop short on planning and effort and Sage Grouse are a very doable species if you just put your time in and when you do the rewards are some of the coolest images in The West. Do your research and get out there next spring super early and make some magic friends! Thank you as always for your amazing support friends!

September will also be a crazy busy month for us as we wind down from our Bear Camp season we head north for a week of musk ox then on to one of the most incredible ecosystems on earth in the Great Bear Rainforest. There is never a guarantee you will even see a Spirit Bear, that in itself makes the trip beyond special, oh but it you do! The Kermode Bear is one of planet earth 's most unique beings as approximately 1 in 10 of them is white. It is truly hard to explain to people that the rainforest may be more incredible than the bears but it is straight magic in motion. Couple all this to the possibility everyday to see whales against the stunning British Columbia coast as well as have very nice accommodations it's a hard adventure to top. We are honored to be going this year as well as to be able to offer this trip again for 2027 with details coming soon on that offering. For those that have seen a Spirit Bear in the wild there simply are no words and the people that run the tours as well as host you are some of the most kind humans on earth. We are greatly looking forward to coming home with full hearts, cards and memories to our families and a little rest before you jump in and lead our fall Glacier Park Tours! Feel free to message us anytime with questions if you'd like to join a quest to see the Great White Bears! Thank you friends and have a blessed day!

It might seem far off but we are super excited to be heading back to Churchill this November with an amazing group of people! What will this trip bring? If it's anything close to as good as our first trip it should be an amazing adventure! We you set eyes on your first polar bear it is hard to describe, they are just built different and command a different level of respect. On trips like this you will deal with atmospheric distortion with extreme cold waves, shifting humidity and some insanely cold winds but dressing for it makes it all more than "Bearable" and you can come home with some really incredible images. Just like any of our animal friends polar bears love their cubs very much and we got to see it on full display. With both of our trips booked this year we are actively working on dates for 2027 and if you've always wanted to see them our trips are all inclusively priced at very great rates. Traveling to Canada for this trip is a breeze and it's definitely an amazing adventure to see these absolutely breathtaking animals. If you'd like to join us in 2027 message us anytime. Thank you as always friends for your incredible support!

Being back on "The Rock" or "The Emerald Isle" brings back a flood of memories, ten years of pouring my all into a place I once thought was one of the last places I'd ever get to visit...God had other plans. As we catch up with friends and get ready for camp it always feel good to get back to one of the most beautiful places on earth and enjoy a little downtime before we go non-stop until mid September. I joke that I've seen almost every blade of grass on the island but it's dang close and my wife and I are blessed to have some of our very best friends here so it's truly a second home. We will hit several favorite spots, see friends and get dialed in for our first camps but enjoy a rare week off first! Today's images are from some favorite memories over the years, taken next to some of my favorite people, all adding to a life far beyond anything I ever thought I'd be blessed with. They say you'll love Kodiak or hate it, either the people hold you or you move on...I fell in love with it from day one...there's just something about the place that sunk it's hooks in...when the float planes wake you up you know you're living a blessed life. Thank you as always for your amazing support friends!

Today is a great day, they all are, being blessed with health, love and great friends is all a person needs to be rich and today turning 51 I have all those things. From an amazing family that supports what I love to do and being able to do it with my beautiful wife and our dogs along for the bulk of the ride I can't ask for more. We are on a hell of a ride and blessed to have our cameras along, although we would welcome an assistant to carry all of our gear lol! As we celebrate my birthday (on a plane of course) I want to thank you all for your incredible support of my and my wife's work, you truly fuel us to keep pushing harder and harder to be a voice for a wild things and their homes through our lenses. We hope you enjoy our images but more importantly we inspire you to shut your tv's off, set your phones down and get out and enjoy nature, our parks, refuge and public lands which in turn drives you to help protect them. Here are some frames from my favorite places, animals and memories. Thank you to our many amazing guests and clients and we look forward to meeting so many of you on future tours with us. Wishing you all as great of a day as I'm going to have. Thank you as always friends for your amazing support!

"Hey!! Who goes there?!" Our beloved Bella with the boys in 2023 perked up with a boar(male) approaching. Regardless the cubs size they are still extremely nervous with a male nearby even though momma will totally defend them. This scene is textbook as Bella decided to nurse the cubs to settle them down and draw their attention away from the situation. It was a very short-lived cruise around them by the boar as he wanted nothing to do with dealing with a mad Bella so although she laid back to nurse them, the boys just settled down and all was well. This is a prime example of a mother bear steering their focus away from the present heightened tension but in this case the young male bear simply wouldn't want to deal with mom. Had the male found the cubs 100 yards away from mom distracted it would've been a totally different scene. One of my favorite things about camp is our guests get to watch "The Days of Our Lives", the Bear version in real time. Golden light evenings in this amazing place never get old! Thank you as always friends for following our passion and daily posts about what we love, we more than appreciate all you support!

Katmai National Park is giant, just over 4 million acres, that's a ton of space for a lot of bears and many roam much of that distance including this beautiful big ol fella. Interestingly if you were to look at my journals you'd see that we only see him in late June to mid-July right at the end of breeding season cruising through for to see if he can find a late cycle sow(female). Very quite, he sticks to himself, doe not like other boars (males) near him and literally grazes in the exact same spots. He has a huge frame and is very healthy and other than his damaged right ear he's pretty much a perfect looking bear. Up to this point we haven't gotten enough time to name him and hopefully we get to see him again in a few weeks and I'd love to see him with a name for him, do you guys have any ideas? With names like Maximus, Brutus, The King, Frank, Big Chocolate, Elvis, Scarface, Honey Badger and more we need to come up with a name fitting for this majestic giant! Let us know your ideas friends and have a blessed day!

As our first camp of the season fast approaches we always have our uniquely beautiful friend Daisy on our mind, getting to see her in the basin is such a heartwarming blessing. We talk often about how each bear looks different just like us and how it's much easier to tell them apart than most people think, Daisy definitely has her own look. Her distinctly triangular shaped head, her cyst on her right eye and her tiny little but and back legs all make her very easy to distinguish. She is very cautious with people and other groups but after a decade of knowing her she will literally wait for other groups to leave and then come right over to us as she knows we always give her her space, we watch other groups test their luck with her and she will ghost you if you push her. I'm always reminded of the line from Shawshank Redemption saying "That's all it takes, really. Pressure and Time" and our guests here me quote that often. The thing we are blessed with is time and we never pressure the bears and Daisy will reward your patience to the max when you let her do it on her terms. She is a very talkative bear with her eyes which makes her a favorite for us and many groups that have met her. We are hopeful again this year that she will return with a new set of spring cubs this month God willing. If you'd like to meet the beautiful characters like these we would love to have you join us in '27(spots almost gone) and 2028! Thank you as always for your amazing support friends!
