Everything changes.
Nothing changes at all.

I find myself wondering what uncle Tony’s commentary on our current situation might sound like. Would it be hopeful? Bleak? Bittersweet? Decidedly forthright or tactfully cautious? I like to imagine that his thoughts might pierce through all the noise, burrow down to some base idea or motivation that the global community may all share instead of our finite egocentric focus.

We need more voices like that. We need better understanding of the big picture. We need it now, more than ever.

Today, like everyday, I ask myself what would Anthony Bourdain do?

Anthony Bourdain was and remains an inspiration to so many. I thought this quote from Paul Bowles was fitting both for Tony’s affinity for his writing and for its message. Few have embodied this better than Tony who knew the virtues of remaining outside one’s comfort zone in the eternal pursuit of knowledge. Happy 63rd birthday to the people’s champion of the world. Sorely missed, gone but, never forgotten.
