Be here. Today.

It’s so easy to get caught up in what was, what might be, or what we wish could be different that we miss what God has placed right in front of us.

On this walk through Radnor Lake in Tennessee, life was everywhere. In the wildflowers. On the water. Moving through the trees. Even quietly watching from a branch above.

Maybe that’s the reminder I needed: open your eyes. Open your heart. Be present.

There is beauty here. There is life here. There is grace here.

And sometimes, there’s a little more hiding in the trees than you expect. 🤍

It’s been a while since I picked up my camera simply to notice.

This morning, a Kentucky sunrise stopped me. The fields were covered in dew, morning fog hung low over the trees, and the first light slowly found its way through.

So I got down into the field and started noticing the little things—the light catching the edge of a leaf, a single drop of dew, the quiet of the fog before the morning fully began.

And somewhere in all of that, I was reminded that beauty has continued showing up every morning, whether I’ve felt ready to notice it or not.

Maybe that’s part of grace.

God doesn’t wait for us to have everything figured out. His mercies meet us right where we are, new every morning.

“His mercies are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
— Lamentations 3:23

This morning, I was ready to notice again. 🤍

How often do we ask God to show us what’s ahead, when He’s trying to show us how far we’ve already come?

I’ve walked these stairs before.

I’ve climbed them.
I’ve descended them.
I’ve focused on each step.

But standing above Greeter Falls, I saw the entire path at once.

Sometimes God gives us a different perspective—not to reveal what’s next, but to remind us of how faithfully He’s guided us to where we are today.

“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.”
— Psalm 37:23

A quiet stretch of road in Cades Cove, tucked beneath a canopy of summer green in the Great Smoky Mountains.

Most visitors come to Cades Cove hoping to spot bears, deer, or wild turkeys. But some of my favorite moments happen between the wildlife sightings—when the road narrows, the crowds disappear, and the forest seems to close in around you.

This quiet road led to one of the most peaceful places we visited in the Smokies.

Sometimes the destination isn’t the most memorable part of the journey. Sometimes it’s the road that leads you there.

One of the things I love most about Cades Cove isn’t the wildlife or even the mountain views.

It’s the quiet.

The way the evening light settles over the meadows. The weathered fences that have stood here for generations. The layers of the Smoky Mountains rising beyond the fields.

Places like this remind me that God’s creation doesn’t always shout. Sometimes it whispers.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

🌿 I came to Greeter Falls for the waterfall.

If I’m honest, when the rain started, I was disappointed.

But the rain became the story.

The falls roared with new power. The forest turned a richer shade of green. Tiny droplets clung to leaves, berries, flowers, and ferns. What looked like bad weather at first revealed details I would have completely missed on a sunny day.

Sometimes the things we wish away are the very things that make the moment beautiful.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time.” — Ecclesiastes 3:11
