The zipper broke.

It could have been devastating, and Alyssa could have easily been a mess. But I have never seen such a chill bride during something that would have sent most brides spiraling.

While we waited for the cavalry to arrive and help, Alyssa was walking around holding her dress together, and all I could think was that she looked like she belonged in a Renaissance painting.

I was trying to explain to her what I was seeing in my head and told her to go stand by the mirror. When I looked up, I realized there were two paintings hanging there that looked almost exactly like what I had been picturing.

Maybe my subconscious caught a glimpse of them when I first walked into the room. I don’t know.

But in my eyes, in the middle of all that wedding-day craziness, it was a perfect moment.

A huge shout out to Connie from Battlefield Bed and Breakfast in Gettysburg, PA for coming to the save the day. You didn’t hesitate when called and were amazing all day! 🙌🏻

So… funny story.

A small tornado hit my studio building, in Columbia

The building is still standing, but part of the roof decided it no longer wanted to participate, which meant a LOT of water found its way inside.

And because apparently a tornado wasn’t enough fun, insurance has entered the chat. 🙃

So while the studio dries out and gets put back together, it looks like I’ll be an outdoor photographer for the next few weeks.

Which brings me to…

Update on Tornado damage.

if you didn’t know, a tornado touchdown in York County, and in Columbia. It made a direct path down my alley, took out the buildings in front of us and our roof and continued for a little.
I am so thankful we are all safe, and the damage was not as catastrophic as I had created in my head.
I was able to get in today to assess the damage and the restoration company is already working so hard to get the building back in order.
Thank you for your patience and understanding and also for everyone who has reached out to check on me! It’ll be a hot minute, but I’m still photographing. Just not in the studio.

There’s something different about the connection between a girl and her horse. It’s quiet, familiar, and you can see it without needing to explain it.

Getting to photograph this part of her senior year was pretty special. This is exactly why I love senior sessions that are built around who you are and what matters to you.

And this one was pretty hard to beat.

The weather finally cooperated!

You don’t have to go far to have incredible lighting… we picked the perfect time of day and spot, to have the gorgeous light in any direction.
