It's been pretty quiet around here for a while but every once in a while, I have to show up and share a recent fave. These two are now FOUR! You might remember them from their VERY HOT wedding!

It all started when I was looking for books for Baby Girl. That's when I realized one way that we will NOT be encouraging our daughter. It's on the blog today.

I will always love this photo. This July 4th is strange. My favorite holiday is being hijacked by the global pandemic. After sundown, The Hunk and I will have some sparkler fun in the back yard and that will be it. No fireworks show. I'm sorry, but I'm sad about it. Covid hasn't taken anyone that I love, so I'm unbelievably thankful for that. Anyone else struggling to focus on the positive? Just me? OK...

I'm taking my time with this one. Time away from side hustles. Time away from obligations. Away from putting my hat in the ring for referral jobs in 2020.

Time to enjoy this last babe of mine. Time to be sappy and bawl like a baby when we pack up her newborn clothes, expecting never to do this again. Time to nuzzle and kiss and baby talk. Time to soothe her and watch her learn how to use her hands. Time to think about her great-grandmother and how much she'd love to meet her.

I miss photography and I hope it'll be there for me when I plan to return in the fall.

But for now, I'm taking my time.

I'm temporarily awake at 4am. I've never been an early bird. But my baby girl is eating... And that's my job, to feed her. I bring my phone with me because I fall asleep otherwise. That's, um, kinda dangerous.

This morning, I read a story of a couple who claims they're not in love anymore. Just don't feel it anymore. How, he asks, should he go through with divorce with their three kids in mind? This makes me sad.

Bear with me, as I'm finishing this post 4 hours later, after another baby feeding and some time with the toddler. Here are some things I've learned:

⚫True love doesn't always feel good. I would rather sleep all night than wake up to feed a baby from my body. It's real work. My emotional love for her drives me to do the things I would otherwise not do.
⚫Sometimes, our emotional love wanes. It weakens. It gets tired. So, even if we aren't feeling it, we have to rely on the verb and love anyway, even if we don't feel like it. The feeling eventually returns.

So, whether we are driven by emotional love or action in hopes of regaining that emotional love, we must love.

At my brother-in-law's wedding, my mother-in-law said, "Love each other, even when you don't feel like it."

Whether we're talking about romantic love, brotherly love, or neighborly love, we must practice it. We must commit to it.

Twelve years ago today, I shot a wedding for the first time. I've learned a ton since then and my world has changed a lot in 12 years. I'm unbelievably thankful that Melissa and Ben trusted me to take pictures of their big day. And every couple and family who has trusted me since, I humbly thank you. I hope you'll continue to let me have the honor of peeking into your lives and serving you by giving you timeless, happy, snuggly images for you to treasure forever.

So. Much. Love.

Jesus Christ has risen from the grave, beating the very things we could never beat on our own: sin, failure, and death. This is the ultimate above and beyond!

If you want to know more about what this means for you, DM me. I won't make it weird.

It's been super quiet over here. Ever have those seasons in life where you take on multiple commitments and, before you know it, you're overbooked? That has been me. So. Much.

I took a super rigorous graduate course this semester (just a few more hours of work and I'm finished!), I initiated and hosted a bi-weekly, faith-based meeting, I continued some discipleship I was already leading, I started yet another school year (with a new class to teach!), we sold my property in Kentucky (after 10 long years!), we started and stopped looking for houses, we started potty training , and, oh yeah, we found out we're having a baby girl in April!

Honestly, after my mini-sessions in October, I was planning to just get absorbed in my other obligations. Welp, I was not expecting so many of you to reach out and ask for sessions! And I can't believe I had time to even do them! I still have one more coming in the next week. Craziness!

I'm so grateful for you. Seriously. I'm grateful for friends who support my little photography business. I love serving couples and families as they celebrate joy and love and new seasons. It is truly an honor to be part of your lives!

As photography slow season is just around the corner, I'm not sure what the next season of our lives will hold. I know 2 things: I still hope to photograph so. much. love. And my heart will be so full.

If you've loved working with me, tell your friends. Tag me in the pics you love to share. I need you. For real.

Thank you. I'll touch base with you again, soon.

So. Much. Love.
Rebecca
