Sneak Peek: Naomichi + Emily
As a teenager, Emily played her cello at a small, one-room church for a recital her cello teacher had arranged. As she looked around, she thought to herself, “This would be such a beautiful place for a wedding.”
That church was The Quarry Chapel in Knox County—and last Sunday, Emily married Naomichi there. In a beautiful full-circle moment, the very same cello teacher who had brought her there as a teenager played during their wedding ceremony.
Emily has lived in Japan for the past nine years, where she works as an English teacher. She and Naomichi met at the school where they teach, and they were married last November in Japan in a civil ceremony.
For their traditional American wedding, they traveled back to Columbus with Naomichi’s parents to celebrate with family and friends.
Emily poured so much love into planning their wedding, thoughtfully incorporating Japanese music, décor, and traditions throughout the day. It was a day that seemed to have a little bit of everything—stormy skies, sunshine, another storm, and plenty of humidity—but through it all, there was so much laughter, love, and joy.
Emily and Naomichi are such a sweet couple, and their parents, extended family, and friends were some of the happiest, warmest, and kindest people to spend the day with. It was truly a beautiful celebration of two people, two cultures, and the love that brought them together.
