Some little moments that stopped me in my tracks as I was editing these studio sessions. Oof. 🥹♥️

The reason I love these sessions so much is because it’s truly back to basics for me. Kids, my camera, and nothing else. It’s what all the other sessions start with, it’s at the heart of it all for me.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved children. I love making them laugh. I love making them comfortable. I love being their friend. I love discovering what makes them tick, and seeing how each and everyone is so different from the next.

These sessions really allow that to shine and I’m so glad so many of you enjoy them too! ♥️

A little hello 👋

Thinking about what I would want people to know when they come to my page, a lot of things come to my mind. I’ll try to summarize a few of them here!

• I started photography as a business in high school, graduated in 2012 and went full time in 2016 (now 10 years full time, over 14 in business! 😱🥰). I truly thought it was unrealistic and not practical to run my own business full time. God had other plans!

• I was single until I was 28. Four years ago, I met my dear husband, we were married one year later, pregnant with twins a few months after that. We moved back to my hometown close to both of our parents and we now have two beautiful 2 year-old girls!

• I still view my work as a chance to practice art more than running a business. I think this is important to know before you hire someone; my priorities lie in each photoshoot and the beauty of the moment with you, more than the number of followers or a perfect workflow.

• It has been challenging to say the least, becoming a mom and wife, and learning how my work fits into that. The Proverbs 31 woman did her work in tandem with her mothering, along with everything else that we aspire to do as women like her. I hope my efforts reflect Christ.

• When I think about the end of my days, impacting people for God’s kingdom (especially my children), is what’s most important to me. If in the art of photography, wonderful! If in mothering at home, wonderful! If in forgoing trends, social media, quick text responses and other distractions for a time, wonderful! If in pouring into the people around me or quietly recharging at home for my family, wonderful! If in running a thriving business or just limping along, wonderful. Gods hand is in it all. ♥️

I really enjoy black and whites, sometimes so much so that I worry maybe my color edits are just terrible?!! 😂😂 (every photographer doubts themselves, trust me!)

I’ve always appreciated more documentary/photo journalism/historic styles of photography and I think black and whites are my little way of feeling like I get to put on my photojournalist hat! 🥰 so I thought I would give you a taste of all black and whites from this shoot before sharing any color!

This family has been in front of my camera many times before, but I have never seen their children light up the way they did with me in their home!! What a joy to get to document them in their space! I have a ton of color images from this set coming soon!! 🥰🥰

I know a lot of these images all feel similar to each other, like they’re all communicating the same thing: two little girls playing together on a bed. But every single one is so special to me.

The fact that these two are playing happily together for any length of time, let alone enough for me to grab my camera, soak them in and enjoy the moment by photographing it, is HUGE for us. Lately they have been playing SO well together and I find myself just staring and welling with tears. It feels like a new chapter and I am so happy we’re here, however long it lasts.

I admire the light in our bedroom almost every single morning, so getting to photograph happy girls in it was such a treat! I am thrilled they happened to be clothed and in pretty colors to boot! 😂😂 (we all know if I had intentionally set this moment up for photos it would have never been a success 😂😂)!

I hope you enjoy these moments! Some days I just want to entirely disappear from the internet, but sharing my photographs and getting to talk to all of you is so special! Thanks for making it worth my while to share a little here and there! ♥️♥️♥️

Just something about six months 🥹♥️

Little Lucas is the youngest one of the grandkid crew in my family! He’s gotten to carry that title for a little while now and not many of them get to do that! 😂 Fourteen other cousins! What a phenomenal thing to be a part of! ♥️

My little brother got married back in November 🥹🥰 It was the cutest little packed country church wedding you ever did see. Complete with a reception full of close family, delicious homemade beef stew and kids galore. We are SO excited to welcome our last sister to the crew!

Ben is 6 years younger than me, with no siblings in between. When our four older siblings grew up and left for college, it was just us two. And God saw it fit to keep me single for a very long time, so Ben and I were each other’s pals.

You know, the person you go see the new Avengers movies with, or the only other sibling still there on Christmas morning at mom and dads, or the one you hang with at the holidays when everybody with kids had to head home. I always worried what it’d be like when one of us found somebody.

Well February of 2022, this sweet, pretty, giggly girl started coming around. My brother was smitten and we were all so excited for him! I tried not to think too much about what it’d be like to not have him as much, and I honestly felt so relieved God brought him someone before me.

And then, in God’s good and kind timing, that very same Spring, Andrew and I started dating. ♥️ Ben and I both have mentioned what a relief that was to know each other wasn’t left alone. Single until almost 30, wondering what the heck God was waiting on 😂, not a clue that He was gifting me those unique times with my little brother.

Even in the lack, even in the waiting, God is good. ♥️♥️♥️
