๐พ TECH TUES: SD Cards ๐พ
Secure Digital Cards, or SD Cards for short, were introduced in August 1999 as part of a joint effort between SanDisk, Panasonic, and Toshiba. These were made as an improvement on MMCs (MultiMedia Cards) and have since become the industry standard.
Mini SD Cards were introduced in 2003 and originally designed specifically for mobile phones and microSD's were SDA approved by 2005.
By 2009, the SDA announced the SDXC family, which supports cards up to 2 TB. Every year there are improvements in these awesome little storage cards and now there are formats (SDUC) that support cards up to 128 TB!
At Cannon Productions, we have many SD cards that we use for varying projects and let me tell you...it makes it super easy to capture the data from your camera or mic and then access on your computer for use! Since both Cannon and Mara do editing, sharing the data is just as important and these make it a snap.
