Here's the thing about senior year that nobody really warns you about: it starts before senior year!

The summer before is actually when everything matters most. It's the last real stretch of time before the schedule takes over, before every weekend is a game or a college visit or a competition. The best thing about summer is L-O-N-G Days!!

We had a secret. She thought she was coming in for portraits.
She didn't know her dog was, too. 🐾

Then her best friend walked into the studio. Suddenly the smiles got bigger, the confidence showed up, and her personality took center stage.

Dancers walk in already knowing exactly who they are and how their body moves. That makes my job genuinely fun. We're not trying to figure out what to do with your hands. You already know.

The question I get most from dance moms is whether their daughter should wear her costume or regular clothes. Honest answer?

If she loves her costume and it feels like HER, wear it. Those shots are gorgeous. But I always encourage bringing a real outfit too, because there's something about seeing a dancer just being a regular teenager that makes for some of the most stunning images of the whole session. Different energy. Both worth having.

Raise your hand if you've ever looked at a photographer's website and thought "ok but those kids are all super stylish and photogenic and mine lives in athletic shorts and a hoodie." 🙋‍♀️

Because guess what? So did 90% of the seniors on my website before their session. That's kind of the whole point.

Senior guys, listen up. If you don't look cool, I don't look cool...and that ain't cool! ✌️

The difference between a photo that looks stiff and one that actually looks like you is simple. It's how your guided. You don't have to know how to pose. I tell you exactly what to do the whole time.

These are 7 e-a-s-y poses I use at every single guy session. Natural, relaxed, real, cool. No awkward "okay now smile" moments.

People always ask me where I shoot in Columbus. And honestly? The answer is everywhere! Glacier Ridge, Highbanks, Quarry Trails, random wildflower meadows I spotted on a drive last October, a wall in the Short North that I've never seen another photographer use.

The location list is long. But here's the thing nobody talks about: two photographers can shoot at the exact same park and walk away with completely different galleries. The location isn't what makes the images. It's knowing what to do when you get there.
