There was a little more meaning behind this part of her maternity session than just taking cute pictures at the fair. 🤎

Both mom and dad ride ranch bronc, and pregnancy meant sitting this rodeo season out for her. So naturally, when we found a carousel horse, we had to put the bronc rider back on a horse somehow. 😂

But my favorite little detail might be the horse on her shirt and the baby’s onesie. That graphic came from a photograph I took of her tack actually riding at a rodeo. I pulled the horse from that image and turned it into the design she wore for these photos—and now lil Rodie gets one too.

Fair food, carnival lights, her boy, a carousel horse, and a little piece of her rodeo season worked right into the session. This is exactly why I love making maternity photos personal instead of trying to make every session look the same.

For the love of good photos… let the finished photograph stay finished. 🤎

I absolutely want my clients to use their photos. Crop them for social media. Make a collage. Print them big. Put them on Christmas cards. Share them everywhere.

What I don’t want is for a finished image to be run through AI, filtered, recolored, or significantly altered after delivery.

A photographer’s editing is part of the final artwork — just like the posing, lighting, composition and moment itself.

You hired your photographer because you liked the way they see things. Let the final photograph keep that vision.

Some stories are told in the smallest details. 🤎

A pair of tiny moccasins, Dad’s hat, an ultrasound tucked alongside them — and a whole new chapter waiting just around the corner.

This western maternity session was such a fun one to build, and this was only the beginning.

Wait until you see where we went next. 🎡

Senior pictures, but make them a little more her. 🤎

A good senior session doesn’t have to fit into one box. Bring the horse. Bring the boots. Bring the dress you can’t resist twirling in. Get in the creek. Let the wind make a mess of your hair.

These are supposed to look like you — not everybody else’s senior pictures.

Western senior sessions are easily becoming one of my favorite things to photograph.

There’s a whole lot more to the West than eight seconds in an arena.

It’s the dust. The wild. The quiet. The people. The stories. And the way of life.

Those in-between moments have always been some of my favorites to photograph — the ones that might not look like much until you realize they’re the pieces that make this life what it is.

Not just what the West looks like. What it feels like. 🤎

Sometimes the most meaningful portraits aren’t the ones where everyone is looking at the camera.

They’re the ones that remind you what it felt like to stand there together.

One of my favorite things about photographing families is capturing moments that feel real—moments that bring you right back to a place, a season, or a memory years later.

This quiet moment overlooking the lake at the waterfall is one I hope they’ll always remember.

It’s over before most people even have time to process what they just watched.

From the nod to the final whistle, every move matters. These are the moments that happen too fast to appreciate from the stands—but frame by frame, you can see the grit, balance, and determination it takes to make a ride.

This is one of my favorite sequences from the Bridger Roughstock Rodeo.

Some happen behind the chutes.

While everyone was watching the action, this little guy was doing everything he could to help load sheep for mutton busting. Those sheep had other plans, but he wasn’t about to quit. Watching him dig in and give it everything he had was one of those moments that reminds me what makes rodeos special.

Then there are the quiet moments—the anticipation behind the chutes, conversations between friends, and the little details that are easy to miss if you’re only watching the competition.

Sometimes my favorite photographs aren’t about the ride itself. They’re about the people and the moments that make the whole event what it is.

Rodeo is built from a thousand little details.

Coiled ropes. Worn leather. Dusty boots. Stock waiting quietly behind the rails.

The action gets the applause, but these are the pieces that make it feel like rodeo.
