I’m back! My first full week back at work was lovely and I’m celebrating with a weekend full of camping with the family. Thank you to everyone who reached out and sent love! Weddings in late August are underrated. After the 4th of July it’s pretty much fall, right?

I remember every wedding. I remember the smell of perfumes, and the feeling of this first look. I remember how guess arrived earlier than we expected so we ran and hid. I remember the car honking at us for taking up the road but we laughed it off because it’s their WEDDING day! Every couple, every ceremony, every client holds such a place in my heart. How lucky am I to be able to celebrate such wonderful days with such wonderful people. 🥹

We love a good detail shot 👏 💍 They may not seems as important but after delivering a gallery I truly think that detail shots add so much depth and character to a wedding gallery. It’s the things that you miss, or forget, and they are so sweet to look back and remember exactly what shoes you wore, or what your invite looked like. It’s more than the item being photographed it’s being able to go back to that day and remember exactly how it all felt. 💕

Hot take 👀 you should find a photographer that you can SEE yourself in their photos. Not from a 2 million dollar budget wedding. Not from a styled session. Not from a flawless models with perfect stoic faces (although Julia + Brandon have top tier stoic faces, see last slide for proof.)

Maybe it’s TikTok and reels or maybe we’ve just lost the plot. Inspiration is good. Using the internet for ideas is wonderful. Call me crazy but holding yourself to standards from the most beautiful people in the most beautiful location with an unlimited budget may set you up for disappointment.

Your wedding is for YOU. Your engagement photos are for YOU. Your memories are for YOU! Your love. Your family.

You, with the venue you chose, and the florist you hired, and hopefully a photographer (me) that will give you beautiful poses in wonderful lighting that will FEEL as good as they look. You. And it’ll be beautiful. 💕
