I had a front row seat to watch a storm hit the Tetons and split in two. Moments after this shot, we got hit with 5 minutes of intense rain. Later in the evening this developed into two different thunderstorms. I don't think I have ever seen anything quite like this, and to have it happen right at golden hour while I had 2 camera setups running was pretty spectacular.

As a storm smashed into the mountains, the walls of clouds broke apart as they headed directly towards us. Light streamed through the valleys like an explosion that moved progressively instead of all at once. I shuttered a few shots at each valley as they erupted with an intense light from the setting sun.

The sunset shoot from one of the Teton turnouts was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. This image is just before a storm came across the mountains right at us. The clouds broke apart and the sun backlit the whole scene.

This is a picture from my cell phone. I sent it to my wife and told her that the sunset was probably going to be a bust. Was I ever wrong!!

I’ll get some of these pictures edited and posted as soon as I get home.
