So you see, it’s not about finding the cheapest photographer or the best deal in town.

Because in the end, Christine ended up spending MORE money. And look, it’s not always going to work to “just go for it and splurge,” I get it - you gotta live within your means. But when it comes to something as vulnerable and important as your BRAND IMAGE - I strongly encourage you to do your research, shop around, explore payment plans, and at the very least… MAKE SURE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER IS HOLDING THE FULLNESS OF YOUR VISION.

“You shouldn’t smile so big.”

[story time: part 2]

When Christine told me that the first photographer she hired told her this throughout her shoot, it crushed my heart.
�Let me tell you something. YOU - yes, you reading this - YOU ARE NEVER TOO MUCH.
Let that big, crazy smile out!
Let your eyes squint closed and that double chin unleash!
Laugh until you burst into tears and a snort comes out!�LET.
YOURSELF.
BE.
HUMAN.

Now, are you going to use the rupture of laughter shot as your LinkedIn profile photo?
No, you’re not.

But that does NOT mean that we are going to sit back and say “1, 2, 3, cheese” over and over and over again until you’re left with a gallery of 100 basic-ass photos that don’t showcase who you are at all or represent your brand.

[story time: part 1]

When I first met Christine and we talked about her vision for her Brand Portraits, this is what came up. And ultimately, Christine ended up going another direction, hired another photographer, and kept her costs down. In the end, she got some.. technically.. good photographs.

Christine texted a few weeks later.

“I’m back and I can’t stop thinking about your photos!”

Within a week, she and I were at the beach, shooting her Brand Portraits.

You see, what was missing in her first photoshoot was any element of LIFE. Her gorgeous PERSONALITY. Her radiance when she bursts into laughter.

Gina was so nervous for her Photoshoot. And she had NEVER had professional photographs taken of herself before!
But let me let you in on a little secret…
First of all, EVERYONE is nervous to have their photograph taken. Even if it’s “just” Brand Portraits. In fact, Brand Portraits can often be even MORE vulnerable than a Bo***ir Photoshoot because you KNOW you’re going to be sharing these images with others.
But secondly, and no one believes this until after the fact, the nerves are SO FREAKING BEAUTIFUL. The nerves are PART of the experience. They allow a part of you to be seen that you usually try to hide away. And it’s magic.
So, embrace the nerves.
Let yourself be human.
You are so stunning and we love all parts of you.

This photo of in particular makes my heart melt. Most of the work I saw of hers were these absolutely incredible watercolors of her children. They gave me goosebumps. The way that Gina is able to capture the innocence and the magic of her children is just remarkable. Behind her in this image are two paintings - on the left, you can only see a glimpse of it, but it’s a majestic painting of her daughter as a goddess. In the one to the right, though it looks like a photograph, it’s an actual painting of her son. Blown away, Gina. Thank you for letting me capture a glimpse of your radiance 🤩
