As a photographer, I have the honor of observing.
Every year, I meet hundreds of families, couples, and kiddos. I get a glimpse into their dynamics, their stories, and the little things that make them unique. Then I get to capture the emotions, moments, and connections that tell those stories — and share them with you.
Kailey and I met through volleyball, her niece plays with my daughter. Rarely in life you meet certain special individuals, and Kailey is one of them. She has a warmth about her that makes people feel seen. All day on ✨her wedding✨ day, I heard her complimenting every single person she interacted with.
I knew she and her mom were criers, and since I already cry at every wedding I shoot, I knew I was in good company. What I didn’t realize was just how often — and how hard — I’d be crying right alongside them. There were happy tears, sad tears, laughing tears… you name it, we cried about it. Sometimes I didn't even know why we were crying, but if someone else is crying, I can't let them cry alone!
Kailey lost her brother in 2022, but he was there all day long...mentioned in stories, remembered in quiet moments, and my favorite… joked about in the way only deeply loved people still are.
And the groom, Colton? Absolutely the perfect man for this bride. During his vows, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room as he promised Kailey’s brother, “I’ll take care of your girls.”
Before their first dance, Kailey saw him off to the side praying and yelled in very "Kailey" fashion, “That’s my husband!!!" 🥰
Some weddings are beautiful. Some are emotional. And every once in a while, you witness a day so full of love, grief, joy, faith, and connection that everyone in the room feels changed by it.
This was one of those days.
