What Does a "Small Shoot" Mean For Me?

I often have people ask me if they can just have a "short session" with a "few files" at a discounted rate....well, no. And here is why...

➡️My overhead cost is the same regardless of how long the session is- insurance, software, equipment, employees, marketing and advertising etc- all that it takes to run a business is the same!
➡️My time prepping, planning, communicating and traveling are the same no matter how long the shoot is- and then there is still my time photographing, culling, editing and meeting with the client after to review the images and walk through the products

So even though you only want to spend 20 minutes in front of the camera and only want "one good family photo" it still costs me the same as an hour shoot with 100 deliverable photos.

Why I photograph the way I do is because I don't believe the best photos happen when everyone is perfectly posed. I believe they happen in between.

When your daughter reaches for your hand.
When your fiancé starts laughing unexpectedly.
When your parents look at each other during your vows.

Those little moments are the ones that tell your story.

When I look at it, I'm looking at:
✨ Where the sun will set
✨ Where the wind is coming from
✨ Which direction gives the best light
✨ Where your kids can safely explore
✨ How the background will frame your family

Choosing the perfect location is about so much more than pretty views.

It sounds backwards, but the fastest way to get natural smiles is to stop asking for them.

Instead, play a game.
Tell a joke.
Race to Mom.
Whisper something silly.

Real smiles come from real moments, and it is more fun for everyone!
