Well, here it is. I have officially closed my photography business. Sorry, but I feel it is the best thing for me at this time. I will still some personal photography, but not for business.
I do have an infant shooting pillow if anyone is interested. Let me know if you want it. I have some backdrops I can also release for headshots. Just message me.

I love to do studio photography, but I am considering closing my shop. I believe studio lighting gives superior results over outdoor sun, and is far more comfortable than the hot and humid South Texas heat. Yet most people seem to want outdoor photos. For headshots, portraits, pregnancy- outdoor backgrounds draw attention away from the person who is the subject. My professional lighting and softboxes provide soft light that can create artistic images, especially with my Photoshop editing. Also, while inflation is raising all other costs, my prices haven’t gone up in years. Yet few are interested it seems. So I am trying to decide if I should close the studio or keep it. Any thoughts?

One of my new irises. This one is so dark purple it almost looks black. I thought a nice purple background would be a nice way to focus on the flower.

Two macros of a succulent flower growing on a flower stalk of a plant wintering in my garage. The plant sent up a tall flower stalk which I have never seen before. I had to capture something. These represent two approaches to macro photography: using a reverse wide-angle lens and using a macro lens. Both are stacked images. I haven't been able to do much of any photography due to a ruptured disk in my back. I'm still waiting for treatment or for God to heal me, which would be even better. I hope you enjoy these interesting perspectives on macro.

I received notice that my photo "Fly on Sago Palm" won second place in Close-up/Macro in the Victoria Photography Club Contest. After the hard freeze, the Sago palm finally put on new fronds which came out in curls. This fly let me capture his photo before finally getting tired of my attention and flying off.

Lori found this beautiful rainbow formed in our backyard this morning. So I had to grab a few pics. When I took physics in college I learned that a rainbow forms as a result of light refraction and return. A rainbow must have raindrops and sunlight behind them. Light enters each raindrop, bounces up or down at an 90 degree angle to the opposite side of the drop and then returns back out of the droplet. The human eye sees millions of these returning lights which slightly refract with each degree movement from the point of the eye. This refraction and return of light gives us the colors of the rainbow of light that is visible to the eye. With these clouds for contrast, it was a beautiful sight and a fun morning.

When COVID shut everything down last year I decided to study oil painting. I started with two scenes based on photos I took in Paris on the Seine River. Lori and I were taking a river cruise from Paris to Normandy. The paintings represent the first day and the last day of our tour. They are titled: Bridge on the Seine and Reflections on the Seine.
