Something big is almost here!
We were introduced to the folks at Old Colony Habitat for Humanity for Humanity early last year through a former colleague.
The project started simply with some 'before' shots of a church in Franklin Massachusetts from 1856 that had been vacant and deteriorating over the last 20 years. It was like walking into a different age and hearing voices from long ago.
Then came demolition and the early stages of construction. An hour of filming here and there to capture some key visuals of the progress. You could tell something really special was about to happen.
Then we started the interviews and the plot really began to thicken.
We learned how the people involved and impacted by this project bring their heart and soul to their mission every day.
We met with leaders of the organization who, after leaving corporate America, decided to spend their days giving back to the community.
A town official who saw an opportunity to preserve a piece of the town's history.
We captured the surprise moments when Sally Marmol was informed she and her three children were picked from a group of 100 applicants to become the owners when building was finished.
The moments of wonder when she first toured the recently framed shell of a building that she would soon call home.
The time she met with members of the community who had been supporting the project from the beginning.
And the final reveal when, with the community at her literal back, and with keys now in hand, Sally walked into a now fully furnished home ready for her and her family to move in.
And finally, a few weeks later, we talked with her about how a new home in a new community was already starting to change the path of her family's future forever.
The only thing hard about this project for us was figuring out how to condense all of this into 16 minutes.
