This little guy was the sleepiest guy I’ve ever photographed! He literally slept through the entire session. 😆 It was a rainy day and that alone was a struggle. His mom and dad really tried to get him to wake up but he just wasn’t having it! Haha can’t we all relate? We still got some great photos. The most important thing is embracing the closeness of the family. ❤️

I just adore little baby toes. How could anyone not? They’re like the little baby grapes you find on the vine. So small and round 🥰. When my daughter was a little one I used to sit there and just play with her little toes. They’re the best!

This is the main image of my new website. It’s one of the best images I have in my portfolio. The light is so ethereal. One of the things I’m looking forward to the most about moving to LA is the sunsets and being able to work with clients more intimately with timing. Working during all hours of the day for the past 10 years has really made me appreciate the subtleties of the evening light. It excites me and I crave it.

There’s just one wedding to edit until I can release my website. I’m just putting the finishing touches on it and finishing my edit backlog and then it’ll be released some time next week. It’s one of the most important moves I’ve made in my career in the past 7 years so I’m excited to share it with you all. ❤️

My sweet baby kitty Inyo is in surgery today so it’s a good day to think about photographing animals. They are so innocent, forgiving, and inherently full of love. Perhaps my photos of animals aren’t trendy or breathtaking, but I hope they express their dignity and loyalty. Do you think I was able to do that?

I recently posted a thread about moving to LA that got a lot of negative comments. I’m already nervous about moving, but it’s something I’m committed to and I need to do for my daughter.

Even if I don’t stand out, will I still be able to survive creating clean, straightforward, honest portraiture from my heart?

This is me taking the creative freedom I talk so much about.

Photographers are told (especially by other photographers) that we have to meet certain expectations…. THEIR expectations.

Well this piece is my response.

I create to have a shared experience that entices people to look deeper and imagine what reality could be. I meet expectations when hired to do so but it’s not my purpose.

Creative freedom is how we show the world its potential.
