Heard scarlet macaws outside the hotel at sunset and immediately sprinted back to the room for the camera gear 😂

Came back out and they were just casually eating right in front of us.

Found this orange chinned parakeet near Esquipulas Forrest, close to Manuel Antonio area. Beautiful little birds, were seen chattering and building their nest in a hole previously left by another animal- probably a woodpecker.

It started as just another misty morning—camera out, hoping for glimpse of the Quetzal.

After a long wait, there it landed.

A Resplendent quetzal, completely unfazed by the rain, perched on a branch covered in lichen like it had always been there. Just one of those moments where everything lines up for a few seconds.

You don’t really plan for these. You just stay out long enough for them to happen.

Both parents alternate duties, feeding the chick and keeping activity around the nest minimal to avoid attracting predators.

One of the most breathtaking birds in the world.

From the flowing tail to the full frame, this is the moment a Resplendent quetzal comes into view in its natural habitat.

A symbol of cloud forest beauty—timeless, elusive, and unreal when seen up close. This magnificent bird was the highlight of my Costa Rica wildlife tour.

Sunbittern predation behavior observed at a riverside in Costa Rica.

As I walked through the Curi cancha reserve in Monteverde, I noticed a bird that looked almost like Ho-oh. I quickly setup my camera and started filming the bird. To my absolute shock, it had captured a ground anole and was ready to kill and eat it.

After capturing a ground anole, the bird uses”d repeated impact to immobilize its prey before consumption.

I spent half the day in Manuel Antonio staring at tree stumps before I realized one was staring back. The Common Potoo is easily the best hide-and-seek player in Costa Rica. If you look at the eyes, you can see the pupils dilating like a camera lens—it’s actually a bit creepy to see in person. They have these tiny slits in their eyelids so they can watch you even when they’re “asleep.” Definitely one of the weirdest birds I’ve ever seen.

4 hours in the tropical rain for this 15-second reveal.
The Talamanca Hummingbird (Eugenes spectabilis) is nature’s living jewelry.

Most of the time they look like shadows, but once they dry off and the light hits just right, the iridescence is mind-blowing.

Caught this beauty drying off in high-frame-rate slow motion with the Nikon
Z9. Look at the water droplets fly as he shakes out his feathers.

Was the wait worth it?

High in the cloud forest, the weather changes in seconds. I was lucky enough to spot this female Volcano Hummingbird just after a downpour. Usually, these birds are a blur of motion, but here she is taking a rare moment to dry her wings and preen.

It’s amazing to see the detail on her feathers when she’s actually still for a second. You can really see the cinnamon tones and the white-speckled throat that defines the female Selasphorus flammula. Truly one of the most peaceful moments I’ve filmed.
