2026 so far has been a time of reflection. A time to think deeply about the work that I do and how I do it. It’s hard to believe I’ve been running this business for as long as I have. There is still much I want to learn. There is so much room for growth. But as I look back, I’m filled with gratitude for this journey I’ve been on and all its ups and downs. My life looks much different than it did when I started my business. The most significant being that I now have three children! Three little ones who inspire me and remind me of what is most important in life.
So here are 5 things that I’m still learning. I say *still learning* because I am a work in progress here.

I’m still learning to evaluate my boundaries and say no.

I’m still learning to hone in on my vision and what I love to photograph.

I’m still learning that as my kids grow and family life changes, my work and business has to change too.

I’m still learning that my business can look different than others. There is freedom here!

And I’m still learning that at the end of the day I am not defined by my work. It is not my identity. My value is not based on how many sessions I take on or how many inquiries I get in a day. And when I view my work accurately as a gift and not my identity, I am free to create and simply enjoy it.

What is something you are learning? Comment below and let me know!

I’ve been quiet on here the last month. Sometimes it’s helpful to take a break from social media and remove the pressure of always sharing content. I’ve really never been good at it. The reason has never been related to not having content. It is simply that I’m choosing how I want to spend my energy. I’m learning to give myself space and not constantly put myself under pressure to do it all. Because the reality is, I can’t do it all. I have limitations. I only have so much I can give each day and I have to prioritize what I give my time and energy towards. This is true for all of us.
While I wish posting was easier for me, some days it’s just too time consuming. I freeze up and don’t know what I should or want to share. I’ve started writing more as a means of processing questions I have and things that are on my mind. Because of this, I’ve started a substack. The link is in my profile. On my page, I’ll be sharing the things I’m processing as a creative and as a Mom. I’m writing about my journey to pursue life-giving and meaningful family photography. I will likely only post once a week or so, but my hope is to share encouragement through honesty and vulnerability. I’d love it if you would check it out.

Also, this song by is one I listen to often on my way to a session. It’s so good and is something I resonate with deeply.

This is my PSA for January - your family photos don’t have to look like everyone else’s. They don’t need to be in an open field and in clothes you don’t usually wear. This is what I did for YEARS. But something shifted in my perspective this past year and I’ve been after joy and connection instead of perfection.
Honest photography that is full of heart and is curated around who you are as a family. I primarily do this in my At-Home Sessions. These are where my creative heart thrives and where I’m choosing to place most of my focus this year. If you’ve been following me, this is NOT surprising!

But I get asked about outdoor sessions a lot still. Do I still shoot outdoors? The answer is yes. And while on occasion this fall I worked at a park or two, I truly prefer a location that has significance.
Here’s why - a spot that is important to you automatically makes your photos more specific and special to your family. It allows for more creativity because it’s a space that holds value for your family - this is reflected in your photos!

This session is an example. This family enjoyed visiting the docks and looking at the boats. So, naturally it was a perfect spot to incorporate for family photos.

Where is that special place for your family? Your backyard, your local park, a favorite coffee shop? Consider scheduling your next family photos here! I promise your photos will feel more like you. Remembering the real and the beautiful of your life today is worth capturing…let’s do it together.

As I sit here and reflect about the past few months and the changes I have made to my work, I am filled with gratitude. When I decided back in June that I would no longer offer mini sessions, I was legitimately nervous about how things would go.

And if I’m being truly honest, I struggled as I saw photographers posting about all their minis booking out so quickly. I wondered how my fall would turn out and if I’d regret my decision. (Spoiler alert - I did not!)

But the desire behind it all was to be more present at home AND with my clients.

Let me explain. I have learned that, for me, creativity requires margin. I simply cannot create well when I’m working all the time and am not giving myself opportunities to rest and reflect. Instead, my best work comes when I have time to be intentional. And while there still ended up being some weeks in November that were way more filled up than I would like due to reschedules etc., this fall felt far less frantic.  Did I still rush to deliver galleries in time for Thanksgiving and take on a few more sessions than I had planned? Of course. It still held its challenges, but by and large it was a necessary and good change of pace.

I’m so grateful for those of you who stuck with me. Who booked summer sessions to help me take on less in the fall. Who said YES to At-Home Sessions and trusted me to create magic there. Who re-imagined fall photos and let me do them in places that are meaningful to you. Truly, I am so grateful!

More of this in 2026, please!

For those who have followed me or read any of my captions this year, you know that I have made a shift in my work. I’m pursuing photography that focuses on joy and connection rather than perfection. Photography that reflects who you are as a family.

It’s been the best, most life-giving change I could have made. I have found inspiration and joy in my work again when I was in a place of burn out and exhaustion.

I have realized that documenting families in a unique and personal way is where my heart is. Your family photos can be window into your life as a family - they can serve as a reminder of the simple, ordinary parts of your family life that one day you will miss.

Whether it be in your home or at a location that is meaningful to you, I want to help you cherish this season of life.

I loved getting to do this session at a golf course…while golf was actually being played. It was fast paced and had ever changing light as we navigated the course, but it was so much fun!

If any of this resonates with you, I’d love to chat about your family and how we can document your life in a unique and joyful way.

This fall I have leaned into At Home Sessions and have loved every minute of it!! These sessions are meaningful, personal, and beautiful. I can think of no greater setting to document your life than in your home where you live each day with your people!

Moms, I know how tired you are. Whether it is your first baby, your third, or your fifth…the early days of having a baby are filled with lots of emotions and challenges. I know that the last thing you want to think about it is getting ready to have your picture taken. Most of us feel a little insecure about ourselves after birth and are getting used to the postpartum stage. So I understand that you might be hesitant to want to document this time in life.

But I also want you to know how beautiful you are as you are! Being a Mom is an incredible gift and I want to celebrate with you this new change and season for your family. Newborn photos shouldn’t feel stressful and staged. Let’s document your life as it is now. I’ll help you each step of the way and am here for you!

I’m now booking newborns for December and into 2026. I already have a few on the books for the new year and would love to chat with you if you are interested! I only take on a few a month and would love to reserve a spot for you!

At-Home Sessions are my very favorite sessions! There’s an honest, soulful, and nostalgic feeling to them that I love. THIS is the kind of Art that fills me up and makes me excited about family photography! THIS is what I want for my clients and for myself as an artist.

I’m not looking for picture perfect moments. I want to create an atmosphere where your kids feel free to be themselves. To let their true smiles shine through. I want you to feel comfortable and at-ease knowing that you can simply be who you are and be present with your family.

I truly believe that these will be such treasures to have for years to come because they are REAL. These are the moments you will want to remember. Not just a perfect posed smile but the beautifully, messy moments of your every day life. The hair in the face. The grass on the feet. The sticky hands. The ordinary becomes the extraordinary. Let’s capture it all.

Photos that make you feel. Photos that capture the heart.

There’s nothing like the sweet moment of bringing your newborn home.

I love capturing this phase of parenthood so you can hold onto the memories forever. A bundle of joy held in your hands - yours to always cherish.

It’s such an honor for me to be a part of that. To see the love on the parents’ faces, the small hands and tiny toes, and even the love from our furry friends.

It’s these moments of joy that I love to be part of. The silliness, the love, the snuggles.

At-home milestone sessions are such a great way to capture the memories you’ll want to look back on from year to year. I love showcasing the full picture - brother and sister joining in on the fun, giggles all around, and tender moments of care that show the heart behind it all.

There’s a special sort of magic to the mundane but even more so with a celebration in the mix. I’d love to capture that for you.
