Every senior session always includes the same question: golden hour or studio? For Manny, the answer was both. His session moved between bold studio light for the shots that needed clean, confident lines, and soft golden hour light for the ones that called for something warmer and more relaxed. Same senior, two completely different looks, because the choice isn't about which one photographs better, it's about what the moment actually calls for. That's the kind of range a single session can hold when it's built around your senior instead of a default setting a studio runs for every client.

This is my son Henry before his pre-K graduation, and I still can't quite believe he's old enough to have walked across that stage. Most of what I know about photographing a bittersweet milestone, I learned from being a dad first. I've got two kids of my own, and I already know how fast the years move. One season you're chasing them around the yard, the next they're crossing a stage in a cap that's too big for them. That's exactly why I take senior photos the way I do. These photos aren't just files to me. I know what it's like to want to hold onto a season before it's gone, because I'm living that same clock with my own kids at home.

Senior media day means something different once you're standing on that field for the last time in your jersey. Dalton's football seniors got the full treatment this spring: portraits built to look like the program they've spent years building. These are the kind of images that end up on a banner, in a yearbook, and on a wall at home. This isn't about one player standing out, it's about a program that shows up looking like it means business, top to bottom. That kind of pride doesn't happen by accident.

Now for something totally not related to photography...

This weekend I was in my hometown in Middle Tennesseee for the 8th annual Boys' Weekend with a group of friends who've been together for more than a quarter century. Same crew, every year, still making time for grilling steaks, building memories, and just being together.

The beards are grayer, my hearing's a little worse, and staying up past midnight is more of a flex than it used to be, but the bond hasn't slipped an inch.

As the years get shorter and the days get longer, we'll keep gathering to celebrate our little Fellowship. The group will shrink over time, but what holds us together won't.

After all, you can't make old friends.

Behind every camera is a person who values the same things you do, family, friendships, and showing up for the people who matter. Just wanted to share a little of that today.

Your senior has thousands of photos on their phone right now. None of them are going on a wall. There's a difference between a photo and a keepsake, and it's not really about the camera, it's about intention. A phone photo captures a moment before it's gone. A real senior session captures who your senior actually is right now, at this exact point in their life, in images created to be printed, framed, and kept for decades, not scrolled past in a camera roll. Senior year moves fast. This is the one season worth stopping to actually document.
