This evening's Depauw V. Wittenburg match was first time photographing field hockey (men or women's). Actually, my first time watching field hockey period. TV or in person.

On a side note: one of the goal scorer's Sophie Flynn, her and her boyfriend, Mark Ortiz, attend Divine Liturgy at my OCA parish in Crawfordsville. Kinda cool seeing familiar faces in a different context.

I'm trying to give an idea of how much 105 degrees on the field looks and I found these photos. The top one was taken yesterday with virtually the exact same setup and similar distances at I took the one on the bottom at last year's Monon Bell. Both were taken with a 300mm f2.8 (I actually stopped them down to F4).

It's not a perfect example, but this should give you some idea.

So when I'm saying that you can see the v***r coming up....
