This month is the 210th anniversary of the Indiana state constitutional convention under the elm. This morning, the intern and I from Pyle scored press access to an early viewing of the 1816 State Constitution and met and interviewed the currator of the State Museum, Dr. Susannah Koerber.

The constitution will be on display from today until the Fourth of July during regular museum hours down at the first State Capitol in Corydon.

Most American might not know this, but yesterday was a huge anniversary in American history.

If America was born 250 years ago next month, her birth pains began yesterday 250 years ago.

On June 7th, 1776. Richard Henry Lee, a delegate to the 2nd Continental Congress put forward a resolution to declare independence.

If the Declaration of Independence was just that, a Declaration with no real legislative binding, this was the amendment that was voted on.

"Resolved, That these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States, that they are absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain is, and ought to be, totally dissolved.

That it is expedient forthwith to take the most effectual measures for forming foreign Alliances.

That a plan of confederation be prepared and transmitted to the respective Colonies for their consideration and approbation."

Perry Ruch of Mooresville, Indiana participates in an honorary volley at the dedication of the Chunn-Scott Cemetery in Clinton Township, IN.

Major John Chunn was a veteran who served under William Henry Harrison at the Battle of Tippecanoe and distinguished himself at the siege of Fort Erie. He was one of the last post commanders at Fort Harrison, which is on the north side of Terre Haute.

Today's ceremony punctuates a 2-year restoration of the cemetery.

Here are some frames from my trip to TX. This is Mission Espiritu Santo which was built the same time the Presidio was built, 1749. So this has been around before the United States was a country.

It still isn't the oldest Spanish Mission. Mission Nuestra Senora was built in 1716 and then moved to the Presidio San Antonio De Bexar in 1731.

It's about a quarter of a mile up the road from the Presidio when you're heading into town and I absolutely recommend you visit if you're ever near Victoria or Corpus Christi
