Happy Memorial Day! 🇺🇸
“Moments from the Heart by Nancy”💛💛
Vietnam War changed so many lives in ways people could see… and in ways people could not.
This Memorial Weekend, I find myself thinking not only about the servicemen and women who lost their lives for our country, but also about the ones who came home carrying invisible wounds, pain, memories, and heartbreak from what they experienced while serving.
My Dad was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
I truly believe part of him never came home from that war.
The things he saw… the pain he carried… the demons he battled silently for years affected so much of his life and our relationship. He may not have died in combat, but parts of him suffered for decades afterward. There were years he struggled to be the father he wanted to be, and years I wished for a closer relationship.
But God gave us a beautiful gift during the last five years of his life.
In those years, our relationship changed. He finally let me fully into his heart, and I became “Daddy’s little girl.” Those moments healed pieces of my heart I thought would always ache. Those years taught me compassion in a deeper way and changed my life forever.
So this Memorial Day, I honor not only the heroes who gave their lives, but also the servicemen and women who came home forever changed by war. And I honor the families who loved them through the pain, confusion, silence, sacrifice, and healing.
Freedom has a cost far greater than most of us will ever fully understand.
So while we gather with family, enjoy cookouts, sunshine, laughter, and time together… let’s also pause and remember:
* the fallen heroes,
* the veterans still carrying invisible scars,
* and the families whose lives were forever impacted by service to this country.
Let’s stand together this Memorial Weekend and salute all of our brave servicemen and women. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
To the heroes who gave their lives…
To the veterans carrying visible and invisible scars…
To the families who sacrificed alongside them…
We honor you. We thank you. We remember you.
We are blessed beyond measure to live in United States — a place where freedom was paid for by courage, sacrifice, and love of country.
May we never take that for granted. God Bless our troops, our veterans, and this beautiful country we are blessed to call home.
