A couple of weeks ago, we had both the girls--Parrish Hayward and Delaney Rader--and all four of their girls in town. It was a whirlwind of a week, as we only had one full day of overlap with all 6 of them here. (My mom Eddie Mae Bobbitt and brother Ben Bobbitt joined us towards the end of the week, too.) This was the first time Parrish and Delaney met in person, and the first time all the cousins met, so a pretty momentous occasion. Of course photos had to be taken.

Well, let me tell you, getting four strong-willed little girls to cooperate for portraits is a challenge! Especially during an extremely humid heat wave, at dinner time, after a full day of swimming. I had to combine four different images to get this one. Worth it.

It's taken me a while to post this--I've been battling tendonitis or carpel tunnel syndrome, or something in my right hand/wrist for months now. It makes editing/retouching photos harder than it should be.

But here is my youngest granddaughter, Arwyn Maeve. Wynnie/Winny for short. Her sisters sometimes call her Pickle, lol. Her big sister Louisa especially adores her, and loves to help take care of her. She's 5 months old already, but this was taken when she was 8 days old.

SIX MONTHS OLD: Ivy's first official photo shoot since her newborn session. She traveled all the way from Wisconsin to Alabama! It's her first time seeing green trees and grass, and first time swimming in a pool, and first time seeing her great-grandmother in person.

I love a good contrasty black & white image. But I also love color images. Sometimes, I just can't decide which version I like better. What do you think--color or B&W? Do you like B&W in general, or do you always prefer color?

Their last photos as a family of four. The newest Hayward girl is expected, well, really any day now. By the time this was taken, Louisa was about done with photos. But Freya was still grinning like a goon, lol.

This kid is usually making the goofiest of faces, making everyone around her laugh. She's easy-going, funny, goofy, fiercely independent, yet cuddly and affectionate. She's usually dirty and messy. She loves to dig in the dirt or climb trees. She adores her big sister and her dog Finn. She's four years old, and any day now, she will become a Big Sister herself. She's Freya.

I'm not really a newborn photographer (though I wouldn't mind being one!) I've only photographed a handful of newborn babies over my 22 year career, and the last one was 4 years ago. But I'm pretty thrilled with this photo of my newest granddaughter, Ivy. Welcome to the world, Ivy!
