Today I am at the Freight House Farmer's Market until 1 pm. Afterwards I will be headed up to Gathered Goods QC . Today is the Appreciation for Customers and my booth at Gathered Goods is 20 percent off for their 3 year Anniversary sale. Most vendors have sales going on today only. 10 am to 5 pm at 4020 N Brady Street. They have raffles and a lot going on. Looking for something special - chances are good you might find it there. You will definitely find treasures you didn't know you even needed. Stop by either and say hello.

Tomorrow is the Labor Day parade in East Moline. It starts at 11 am. Here are a few pictures from last year. I was honored to walk with my brothers and sisters with Ironworkers Local 111. I am thinking this year I go as an attendee and capture more of our other trades as well. If you have any little kiddos - there is a huge amount of candy being given out. Come support all of those who make our lives better every day in so many ways.

Happy Labor Day to all of those people who make our lives easier every day. They often work unheard of hour, days and weeks on end. Through the summer heat and the winter cold. Unknown, unrecognized, sometimes unappreciated.

Every ironworker, every operating engineer, every carpenter, every laborer, electrician, sheet metal worker, plumber, pipefitter, tool and die maker, those working in shops with no ac in the summer or heat in the winter. Construction workers, Linesmen, towboat workers, roofers, painters, factory workers and of course the truck drivers. So many trades and yet so many more.

Not exact - but close enough. The first picture is of them building the first span of the IA IL Memorial Bridge in the 1930s. The second is the demolition of the I-74 Bridge in 2023. The LeClaire Hotel is on the right for reference. Amazing the first one up is the last one down.

As we come into this Labor Day weekend - I will be honoring our trades people. Stay tuned ..
