I’m Brianna Wellman, a custom photographer in the Quad Cities offering a boutique photography experience, along with custom digital design services for work and home! 👋🏻 I’m Brianna, a product + brand photographer who’s photographed 50+ women-owned brands, and welcome back to Fix Your Photos Friday!

Your customers don’t get to pick up your product. They can’t hold it in their hands, compare it to something nearby, or see how it fits into their everyday life.

Your photos have to do that job for them.

Giving your customer a familiar point of reference instantly helps them understand the size + scale of what they’re buying.

A beautiful product photo might make someone stop scrolling, but a photo that actually answers their questions? That helps them feel confident enough to buy. 🤍

Welcome to the BuildHER Social crew ladies 🤍 ...last night was EXACTLY what I hoped this event would become!

Half of the women who joined us tonight were brand new to BuildHER Social. The other half? They came BACK after joining us for our very first Walk + Talk.

👋🏻 If we haven’t met yet, I’m Brianna, owner of Brianna | Iowa Brand Photographer and the founder of BuildHER Social. I created this because I wanted women in business to have a place to make real connections without the awkwardness that can come with traditional networking. Last night I got to watch that vision come to life for a second time 🤍

We walked. We talked about what’s happening in our businesses right now. We brainstormed holiday ideas, talked content, shared goals, made introductions, offered resources, laughed A LOT…and watched new connections start forming right in front of us.

Some women walked in already knowing each other. Some met for the very first time tonight. By the end? We were already talking about seeing each other at the next one 🥹

This isn't a networking event you attend once, exchange a few business cards, and move on from. It's a community of women who keep showing up, and the circle keeps growing.

Here's the LAST CALL to join us for BuildHER Social tomorrow night! 👟

If you’ve been seeing my posts and thinking “That actually sounds really fun…I should go sometime” …make tomorrow that sometime.

After our first BuildHER Social, Marie from Marie | Master Color Analyst answered this question perfectly. Oh and apparently she meant it, because this time she’s coming back AND bringing a friend with her! 😂

This is exactly what I wanted BuildHER Social to become - women coming back, bringing other women into the community, and actually building relationships with the women doing really cool things right here in the Quad Cities.

You can have a beautiful space, a polished website and an Instagram feed that explains exactly what you do…but at some point, the people considering working with your business are probably wondering one more thing: Who am I actually going to meet when I walk through those doors?

👋🏻 If we haven’t met, I’m Bri...a Quad Cities product + brand photographer, and this is exactly why I love adding brand photography onto a Brick + Mortar session.

When I’m already photographing the space you’ve worked so hard to create, we can also build a library of images showing off the people who make that space what it is...not just a couple new headshots and we’re done. I want the polished portraits, the individual images, the working shots, the personality and all of those in-between photos you can actually pull from when you’re introducing yourself, updating your website, announcing something new or simply showing the humans behind the business.

Rachel Thompson + Laiken McAleer at Root & Rise | Pelvic Floor Therapy are such a perfect example. Their space is BEAUTIFUL, but these two are just as much a part of the Root + Rise brand as the space itself, and I’m so glad we photographed both last week 🤎

TWO DAYS until BuildHER Social.

After our first event, Emily Timm RDN, LD left this quote in our feedback form and it is such a great reminder about WHY we chose to host something different. Another attendee told me that running her business can feel really lonely because she’s the only one, and that she loved having the chance to socialize and brainstorm with other like-minded women.

…and THAT is why I want BuildHER Social to exist.

Not just to exchange business cards or tell a bunch of people what we do, but to actually know the women building businesses around us. To share ideas. Make connections. Ask questions. Support each other…and hopefully leave with a few more women in our corner. 🤍

I take care of the introductions, partners, and conversation prompts. You just show up.

There are a lot of really exciting things happening in my business right now, but those are also the easiest things to share here.

👋🏻 If we haven’t met, I’m Bri...founder of The BuildHER Co., photographer, wife and mom of two trying to figure out how to build something I’m proud of while still being present for the people I’m building it for.

I wanted the freedom to be home with my kids, but I also want them to grow up watching their mom take risks, work hard and build something that hopefully leaves a legacy for them someday.

Turns out you can be incredibly happy with where you are and still be figuring some of it out. ❤️

Walking into Root & Rise | Pelvic Floor Therapy felt like reveal day on Fixer Upper ✨

Rachel Thompson and Laiken McAleer shared some of the “before” photos with me, and last week I got to walk through the doors and see what they created out of this space. I'm SO incredibly honored to help them show it off!

Every little corner feels intentional...the cozy treatment rooms, the artwork, the tiny little details and yes, even the b**b decor 😂

They didn’t just renovate an office. They created a space designed for women to feel comfortable, welcomed and supported while they thrive.

I am absolutely LOVING Brick & Mortar sessions lately. Your physical space tells part of your brand story before someone ever meets you, and there is so much value (especially in medical spaces) in showing people what it actually feels like to walk through your doors.

Congratulations, Root + Rise Therapy Studio 🤎 Getting to document this space as you get ready to welcome the women of DeWitt and beyond was such a treat. They’re celebrating their Grand Opening this Wednesday, so go see this gorgeous space for yourself!

Your product photos shouldn’t always fill the entire frame. Sometimes the most useful part of an image is actually the space you didn’t fill 👀

Leaving intentional blank space around your product gives you room to actually use that photo.

✅ Add text for a sale
✅ Drop in a launch date
✅ Turn it into a website banner
✅ Add a testimonial
✅ Create an ad
✅ Build an email graphic

A tight, perfectly composed image might look beautiful on its own...but if there’s nowhere to put anything around it, you’ve already limited what that image can do for your brand.

So when you’re planning your next photoshoot, don’t just think about what looks pretty. Think about what you’ll need those photos to DO.

That little bit of blank space? It might just make one photo work ten times harder for your business. 🤍

This is exactly why I launched BuildHER Brick & Mortar...because so many incredible Quad City businesses look amazing in person, but their online presence doesn’t fully reflect that vibe.

This morning was all about capturing the space, the details, and the incredible experience clients actually walk into at PURE! Now they can show up consistently on social, Google, and beyond without having to think twice about content.
