In case anyone does not know, in 2025 the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad took possession of former Conemaugh & Black Lick RR diesel switcher #111. It is bittersweet in that while it will no longer grace the tracks around Johnstown, it will live on pulling tourist trains in Maryland through the mountains just south of us instead of getting scrapped like many of its sister locomotives.
In that vein, the WMSR will be repainting #111 into a yet-to-be-announced livery in the near future. It will likely never again wear its Bethlehem Steel yellow and black and the C&BL RR text on the cab. With that in mind, WMSR offered up a last chance photo experience for #111 today to capture it in its current state.
I could not manage a full day of photos, nor justify the ticket price, but I was able to sneak some shots while the engine and short train ran around Cumberland, MD posing for its passengers. These are those shots, and at least through my lens, C&BLRR #111 will forever wear its Johnstown colors.
