An hour is not very long, in the context of a busy day hustling from school, errands, appointments, and activity to activity. But it’s long enough to step out of the week, find a spot in nature, and just be a family together.
I can’t guarantee that everyone looks at the camera at the same time (although we always end up with those perfect photos for your holiday cards). It’s time for just the bunch of you together, letting things unfold exactly the way they do when young kids are involved.
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the quiet part of this work. It’s the realization that we don’t have to be orchestrating anything, and that we’re just making room for an hour where nothing has to be controlled. Being together is the whole point.
If your days are full of noise and half finished sentences and never quite enough sleep, consider this your reminder: you don’t need calm to make something beautiful. You need an hour, and each other. Trust the chaos and the beauty that can emerge from it.
Also, this session feature is probably going to be a two-parter. There’s just too many sweet images from this beautiful family. 💕
