A glimpse through my lens πΈ at the wild beauty and remarkable diversity of Dolly Sods.
On September 9th, I joined an AMC Potomac Chapter sampler hike led by David Mong, who has explored the Sods since his college days and continues sharing his knowledge and appreciation of this extraordinary landscape with fellow outdoor enthusiasts.
Our stops included the Bear Rocks Preserve loop, Sundew Trail, the Bird Banding Station, Northland Loop Trail, The Tree, and Red Creek Trail where we ended the day with a refreshing swim.
Along the way, we did our part to leave the trails better than we found them, collecting discarded βflower blossoms,β (used toilet paper)eggshells, and, unfortunately, even a bag of f***l matter. Please remember: LEAVE NO TRACE! Pack it in, pack it out, and help preserve the beauty for all to enjoy. πΏ
Thank you, David, and all the dedicated stewards who help protect and maintain these trails. We witnessed the fruits of your labor firsthand, and your hard work truly makes a difference.
Dolly Sods is a landscape worthy of our appreciation, respect, and protection and a beautiful reminder of why nature is my refuge. π
