Why are photographs so important?
I was lucky enough to grow up with a Mom who understands the importance of photographs. She documented everything. Never missed a thing. And now as an adult, I can vividly picture a photograph in my head, flip through a photo album or a hard drive and know exactly which photo I'm looking for.
When we were kids, we took the same camping trip every summer. Booked the same campsite every year. And to me, it was the best weekend out of every summer. This year we went back. For the first time in probably 20 years. Still with my parents, still the same campsite, still rocked tents, biked the same loops, walked the same trails. And it was just like I remembered.
So when I said to my Mom, "Hey, Ma. We need to recreate that photo with the kids on their bikes. Ya know, the one of Samantha, Jesse, Candice, Willie and I?" she knew exactly which one I meant. And we did just that.
All this to say, photography isn't just a job to me. I feel it in my soul. If you powered through to the end of this long winded post, thanks for being here 🖤
